Yes, it looks like the 2016 convertible is the F57. You may have a 3 cylinder if it is the base model and not an S. The rest is the same.

This is the best place to reach out to me. All you really need is a floor jack to support the engine, good set of torq bits, torque wrench and ratchet. You also need to replace these 3 bolts, they are torque to yield. Do not reuse them. 04 Torx screw, self-threading M10X70SPU1-10.9 PN 07129908650. Realoem.com is a good place to look at diagrams and parts for your car.

Hi Kevin,one nut on the upper mount broke inside ,how can I fix it,when the car drives on the speed bump it makes funny noise
@kevinringer2984
11 ай бұрын
That's not good. Not sure how to fix that. I haven't ever broken a bolt (yet). it would really depend on where it broke off. If it is flush with the mount then maybe you can pull the mount and get some vise grips on the bolt still sticking out. If is flush with the motor or frame you may need professional help. On the funny noise - if is a clunk these minis have a tendency to wear out the lower suspension bushing on the lower control arm where it attaches to the frame. I had to replace mine one the low speed clunk went away. I do not have a video on that.

Wow, that is crazy, seems like something is out of wack there. I replaced the lower mount at 98K and it was a but worn, the trans mount seems ok and the Motor mount I replaced in this video is still ok. I have 94,000 miles now. I replace the front lower control arms due to clunking sounds, common issue. The rest is maintenance. To date I have changed the front brake pads once and rear pads twice. I replaced the front rotors by choice. Lots of oil changes, two spark plug changes. That is it.

GM Kevin - Thanks again for the video. What Torque Spec did You use for the Frame / Chassis side? I've seen 100nm on a forum - surprised it was that high but it is holding the engine weight from dropping.
@kevinringer2984
2 жыл бұрын
From what I find 100 Nm is correct for mount to side member. I don't remember if I did that but I probably did since I know how important the torque is. The ones from the mount into the cylinder head is 40Nm plus 90 degree rotation. Those need to be new and not reused.

@@kevinringer2984 Thanks for the reply / confirmation. I completed the swap yesterday afternoon.............a pretty straightforward job, thanks to YT videos like yours👍 BUT some of the BMW engineering decisions are mind boggling. The Mount itself is an unnecessary failure which seems like they still have not corrected a known weak part. Mine was cracked in one area & leaking @ just past 30k miles........previously, it was a loaner / demo & based on how the sales person drove when I was in the car, I'm not surprised. It was some of the little stuff ie; that stupid plastic panel next to the rear side member bolt - they could not carve out an inch to give clear access in a very tight area?.........so much effort & time wasted there The Good News - I saved plenty of $$$ Thanks again
