One of the things I love about quilting is it doesn't matter how many years go by the technique is still applicable today (Sept 2021).

You will get many views from me on these videos. I really like adding piping to quilts, and to be sure I do not miss or mess up a step, I watch your instructions each time. They are nice and clear. I also like that the videos are short. No frills, just to the point! Thank you!

Thank you so much for creating the Piping Hot Binding videos, Part 1 and 2. I am a visual learner and though I have read the book accompanying the Groovin' Piping Trimming Tool, watching these videos have solidified the procedure for me. This will be my first time ever quilting and instead of trepidation I feel excitement.

This is a brilliant little gadget, so much so that I was wondering if you have any plans to produce one for those of us who use thicker piping for home furnishing projects? Having said that, My quilts are all bound with piping now and don't they look neat! I would NEVER pipe anything previously but I love it now.

A six minute video does nothing compared to your class and all the other tips I have learned. I love this little quilt and I am so excited about this method that I am going to make your ringie dingie quilt. This video does explain the method very clearly, great video. I subscribed to you so i do not miss any thing you put out xoxo your Canadian student :)

Shelley, It's a Rowenta travel iron and it's the very best/hottest small iron. This particular model has been updated. You may find one at a fabric chain store or online. The new model has some purple on it. You'll love it!

Kelley, Yes. A foot with a small groove in the bottom isn't designed to stitch well with all the bulk of the quilt plus piping underneath. Once in a great while a machine can do it, but it's rare. An open toe foot offers the best view right in front of the needle, so it's best for stitching exactly over a line. So ... give it a try with the groovy foot, but check to be sure stitching on the back is good and make sure the machine is not stretching the quilt's edge! ..might need open toe foot.
@kpoulos42

is there a reason you used your open toe foot to apply the piping to the quilt instead of the piping foot you used earlier?

Susan, Thank you for such a great tutorial. I already had your Groovin' Piping Trimming Tool and used your technique once bebore on a miniature quilt (accepted to Paducah, by the way) and needed a refresher since it had been a couple of years. Before I found your tutorial, I had already trimed my quilt to size. But I used my walking foot and and it went fine. After all, I'm already a Piping Hottie...I took your Piping Hot Curves class in Knoxville at the AQS show a few years back. Thank you!

Thanks for your nice comments! You made my day. Jan Krentz's book Lone Star Quilts and Beyond is a fantastic resource for the info you need. This quilt was made before her book was released. Jan saw the quilt at International Quilt Festival and asked if she could include a photo in her book. I agreed. Now we're dear friends. I'm writing a new book now that will include some of the special techniques in this quilt. Precision & Panache will be out this fall. ...and more KZitem videos are coming!!

About that quilt hanging behind you...do you ever plan on making a short video on what you did to create that beautiful piece? I would so love to see someone show some of the techniques on either just cutting or picking the color pallette! This is a great video and it is to bad that there are only two to view! Happy Quilting... :)
