Except there is nothing stock about these cars at this point. I measure reliability by how well the car does when it's bone stock. It doesn't count when it's modified. I'v smashed the he'll out of sunfires and little cars like alike and they still keep tickin. I raced a cavalier in 3 seasons worth of dirt track enduro races and the only thing to give was the clutch disc. Pontiac and chevy both GM. American reliability at its finest.

+TeoTH80 The way he said it was a bit stupid and misleading. What I think he meant is that Patrick Richard knew how much to turn just from knowing if the turn was a 3, a 4 or a 5 and by knowing the speed he is going, even with little reference points because of the low visibility. I don't think he actually meant that each corner has like a fixed G value or something. He clearly knows nothing about momentum, centripetal force or acceleration but what he said still makes a bit of sense. He was indeed compensating the lack of visibility by feeling the turn (and of course by going slower and thus making reaction times less significant)

He meant the navigator was judging the road - since that side of the windscreen was almost entirely opaque - the driver could see.
@romaindubray2325

@@filipecorral6749 Bit late to this but Richard still has visibility on his side of the windshield, Ockwell does not. And the commentators are indeed talking about Ockwell. What he meant was to keep track of actual pace in his reading of the pace notes, Ockwell had to rely on the feel of each turn to know how far into his pace notes they were currently, and when to read said notes. There's little about this that is stupid or misleading, commentator was probably close enough to what a copilot has to do with no ability to see the road.

Amazing to win - But those guys stood at the side at the end, absolute madness. If he lost control there (quite likely given car condition) it would have been carnage!!
