You have amazing patience and I applaud you. I threw mine together, skipping most of those steps...Mine turned out really great, yours is a product that you know is superior because you put more love into it.... Nice work my friend :)

Drilling the holes in the leather created a lot of leather DUST I hope you had a good mask on: leather dust is HIGHLY CARCINOGENIC, a one-time exposure can be all you need. A warning to viewers to always wear a dust mask could be handy

I have a STIHL ms180 and I’m looking to accomplish something similar. Can you point me to the Alaskan mill you found that would be compatible with these smaller STIHL models?

Hi! I just picked a cheap 120euro/dollar mill from Amazon. I think most look the same so get the cheapest you can I would say.

Nice knife 👍. Suggestion : You should squeeze the handle from the tip of the knife to the butt of the handle... So it will be no gap

Never would I ever have thought! I have an 017 with a 12”… my favorite limbing saw, but the smallest I mill with is the 025 with an 18”. Hey- each time you file, take down that angle from the crosscut teeth and it’ll eventually be a 10* ripping chain

I suppose it's nice that you could compelety destroy the knife and the you could get a new one for very cheap and throw the plastic sheath away and use an actually good sheath.

You should never use wood glue on leather, it drys hard and snaps once leather is bent... contact cement is much better and easier to use.
@MooreLeather

Agree 100%. The only glues I use for leather are rubber or neoprene based...as they remain flexible when dried
@dmitryk754

No need here to be flexible, wood glue would actually work ok here. Most use epoxy for this so wood glue is also ok.

What can this shape of the blade be useful for? I tried it on the hunt for boar skin but it did not help at all. For cutting vegetables or meat completely unsuitable. It is only for wood, what can be the use that will excel? Amazing job, very nice knife.

Very Good! ......... Here are a couple of comments At about 3min 20sec toy show tin plate and say it is a traditional material We know that for a long time, going back to prehistoric times, there was a lot of communication and trading around northern Europe and the North Sea, between Britain, Scandinavian and Baltic countries, and further across Europe to the Mediterranean So perhaps the tin used for tools, jewellery and ornaments in those areas came from Cornwall, in Britain? I've never made a stacked leather knife, but I do make narrow tang knives with a brass bolster, then various pieces of wood, spacers, and so on Sometimes the fit of the bolster is kinked or distorted after the glue has set - very annoying and frustrating! So now I glue just the bolster onto the knife with 5 - minute epoxy glue, and hold it in place till it has set Then, if that's right, I make up the rest of the handle with 24 hour epoxy; the fixed bolster makes a good support for the rest of the handle, and there aren't usually any more problems.

It turned out beautifully! I would love to own a knife as well crafted as this with that much work and care put into it. Right now I'm looking to restore a vintage Boy Scout knife and the leather handle is coming apart. This video was super helpful and informative. Is there no need to dry the leather at any point?

Nope… It looks more like a shank than a knife! You can’t piecemeal and hope for symmetry. If you’re building for utility, great job but if you’re building for craftsmanship… 4.5 out of 10.

These are quite basic tools and you can buy cheap leatherworking sets if you want to get started. Buying from a leatherworker will probably cost more than the tools and leather so up to you if you like to make things or have spare time ;)
