Wow, what a great shift in my mind to name it as "dark night of the ego/will" instead of "dark night of the soul"... It points more to the core of what is really going on there... Never seen it that way. Thank you, Adya! It helps a lot to accept it and to open up!

I have been enduring a Dark Night for 16 friggin years. It was triggered in 2006 by a massive breakdown on psychedelics and then a year later I got hooked on Valium and everything got gummed up in the works. Yet even so. The drug use has been intermittent, and here in 2022 I am still suffering from existential anguish. A deep, dark, black ball of fear in the gut. A subtle drain on all my energy that keeps me locked up in a small life in a bundle of fear. And I have gotten SO MUCH help. Doctors, healers, teachers, meditation, neurofeedback, detox, IV therapy. Everything under the sun. I have had kundalini syndrome for 14 years and a crazy whirl of energy this year forcing its way out of my head periodically. Something big has got to be going on in my subtle energy system/unconscious mind that's heading for a shift in my conscious mind. So i just keep going and waiting for something to budge. But we'll see, won't we?

I really appreciated this Thank you What I found subtle and vital was beneath the grief the love I found that much of my pain was loving deeply those who didn’t have the capacity to show or express in return and the grief of that sense of rejection. The young mind couldn’t understand This description was so helpful and healing in the directed reconnection and understanding A new way of feeling it through and acknowledgement Blessings

Dark night of the will. I first experienced this in my 20's and certainly didnt recognize it that way! Here I am 40 years later and realize that life has again and again presented me with the same type of situation and I have always taken it as a put down of myself, a self denigration, low self esteem etc. This talk has given me much to think about and ponder... I wish he went on to talk about how to reframe and how to surrender...

If you cant serve others and leap out of the self/ego on what path ur on, start a new path. Have a death n move on into servitude. Everyones depressed. Everyone. The dark night is on going. Accept it. Lean in and again-SERVE. You dont matter. Peace.

Hello Jouseph, thank you so much for sharing this Adya talk. I only found him recently and I love how he is able to articulate spiritual and subtle realities. Thanks beautiful souls for sharing your dark night experience in the comments, it has been very similar for me, where I didn't have a teacher as my will and ego began to dissolve along with the rest of my life. I like what he says about how difficult this can be and that it is relative to your level of resistance. As Eckhart says 'resist nothing'. Like many here, 10 years later and I'm finally understanding what has happened. Thank you Adyashanti and so much love to all xx

Thanks for the replies. the Universe hasn't seen fit to give me anyone who's particularly helpful. Maybe one or two somewhat receptive but not very available. Actually lots of unhelpful and harmful ones so have no choice but to be with it all alone for the most part... Far more contempt and disregard than understanding.

If you touch on the root, the grief, it can still prevent healing. It can in fact intensify your suffering. Only if the changes in you caused by touching the root are received by the environment can you heal. Adya says healing comes from within, but you are still in a world and interacting with it and the world interacting with you. If touching the root enables you to heal, it is because it was the last missing condition for succeeding in that. For others, going that deep may lead to suicide, because it was not a good time to change that much. A loving person among a hundred hateful people will automatically be in resistance, actually them in resistance to that loving person. Applying no force at all can be perceived as an exploitable vulnerability. And in such a situation, rage can be the most natural and necessary feedback. Even if you touch deeper, it is still a good/necessary thing happening. It is karmic. It is empathy urging people that without it we are all doomed. Tough love. Stop donating food to a beggar monk and keep them from finding a job and see for how long they manage to maintain their serenity.

The wisdom comes from god. It’s transmitted through adya’s talents.. he certainly is a precise and meticulous speaker, while remaining simple enough to easily follow. Gods wisdom can come through to any of us, and it is completely different when it comes straight through you from God, rather than just hearing words about it from one of his bodies. Adya is trying to point you toward where god will come through to you for yourself. It’s the same wise god intelligence coming through him that wants to say hi directly to you, but you have to let god in. It grants wisdom that makes things so clear and obvious that it’s beyond doubt.

He's simple and direct without being simplistic. No trick answers or 'Zen talk' with him. He's done a lot to demystify what enlightenment is and strip it from the traditional gobblegook.
