I bought a couple of the Orbit Voyager II that are basically the same to use on a spike with an adapter as an above ground option during a lawn renovation. Water from the nozzle drips down and soaked the ground below. It wasn't coming from the the connections or body. I could put my hand around the popup portion and water would run down my hand. I had the screw turned in a reasonable amount to break the stream but not cranked down. Ended up just using oscillating sprinklers. I can see the water pouring off the bottom of the stand in the vid so I feel better knowing it wasn't just me lol. Looks like the stream in the vid is being broken more then mine too. I didn't mess with changing the tips though which may have helped by not needing to turn the screw down as much. May not be an issue with an established lawn but when growing seed, you don't want to drown it. Also, I had one along my garage that sees a good amount of shade so it didn't dry.

Great video. My house is 14 years old when they put the irrigation system with the Rainbird 5000. Will my Rainbird 5000 have the slip clutch that you’re talking about to allow it to go counterclockwise? I thought I read somewhere that some older Rainbird 5000 do not have the slip clutch. And if it doesn’t have a slip clutch, and you turn the head counterclockwise past the initial resistance, you will break the gears.

A few years late, but in case it helps anyone: Setting the left stop point means turning the head to the left until it stops where you want it to. The trick is to not turn it against the gears, whichever way they're turning at the time (remember, it switches direction when it hits each stop point). Gently try to turn it either way, and you'll know which way it's geared to turn pretty easily. It'll click quietly as it turns with the gears. Don't force it to turn against the gears. Turn it all the way to the right stop point, then all the way to the left stop point, then continue turning it left until the left stop point is where you want it. Do not do this while the water is running, as it risks stripping the gears and rendering the sprinkler head useless.

Did I notice something he didn't mention? At 1:00, it looks like he's trying to set the left but he turns to the right a bit so he can have more slack for the left adjustment. Is this part of the process?

in other videos they do not recommend that you adjust your head when it is with water and less when it is at work

Watch another video. I saw one that says adjusting this style of head with the water on will BREAK the internal gears and void the warranty. Another subject I'd like covered: how to make the head rotate 360° without ever hitting a stop.

Man, so simple. I just replaced twenty heads with these things. My neighbors have been enjoying watching me running around with the garbage instructions in complete confusion. Great heads, but horrible documentation, lol. Thanks for the video, guys!!

So, for the left side adjustment I just have to turn on the sprinkler and then grab the part that pops up and manually move it to the position I want to be the left most? Sounds easy if that's all there is to it. I saw another video of digging it up and then one of unscrewing the top showing the gears or springs. I don't want to have to do that.

Wild Weasel There is only one size for the hunter heads you can get them at any sprinkler retailer or Home Depot. If it’s the rain bird heads it’s a flat head screw driver. Let me know if there is anything else!

Well do you know which size is it? I have metric and SAE allen keys and i assume its one of those sizes they would not make a special one i guess. Thanks

How do ya set the left stop say 10 degrees, or 20 degrees (or whatever) to the RIGHT of of its current setting? For example, if I want the left stop (trip) to be 10 degrees to the right would I turn it CCW (to the left) 350 degrees?

tuts40 from what I see .. right at the 1:00 mark he turns the head to right and you can hear clicks if you wearing head phones. So when he twist to the starting point it don't go to zero he at maybe 30 to 45 degrees off. I'm in the same boat trying to figure out some things.

The rain bird 5000 sprinklers put a lot of water to the outside circumference but not enough closer in. What is the problem I am running at about 35 PSI.

Leon Wohlgemuth try adjusting the screw that holds in the nozzle . Screw clockwise to adjust the spray pattern to a mist that will help with the inner.
