He is the only one that has this technique…!!! When it comes to organ. His left had is more of a snare drum and his right is more of a hi hat.

Eddie and I met when I was in third grade. He was in fourth. He was good then, and got great real quick. A true virtuoso and a dear man. Some of the best music I have ever heard was at Bonasera Music in Warren, Ohio. I walked in with my grandmother while Eddie was playing. They got into some old gospel together. I will treasure that listening experience for all my life.

Thank you for this interview 🙏🏽 I am lucky to say, I met Joey and Gloria in 2005 at a gig, in St. Louis, mo and the great Houston person introduced me and my boyfriend, kevin Frazee to Joey and Gloria 💚 I was mesmerized, and could not speak much when meeting them. I and kevin were in aw with Joey and Houston, both giants of music 🙏🏽 thank you Joey for bringing back the hammond b3 organ 🎹 Gloria just uploaded the most amazing tune Joey did, how great thou art, check it out, so appropriate for today, Thanksgiving day, 2023 💚 love and miss you Joey D, your the best, and Gloria thank you for those videos you uploaded🙏🏽 Joey was so right about organist sounding sterile, cold with no soul who are nasty and just screaming on the organ. Kevin played drums with Houston person an one amazing weekend in Kansas City, mo at Bobby’s on broadway, after their gig we drove to the Louie to see Joey and Houston play together, it was the best road trip for a gig, plus the Louie is amazing, the hill 🇮🇹🍕🍝 Kevin Frazee passed from Covid a year before Joey, he played with a great organist, Chris Hazelton, check him and kevin out on KZitem they have many great tracks, love Kansas City organ jazz 🎹💚🌈 angelica in Santa Cruz, ca 🌊💚🌈🎹🥁

Joey's improv and harmonic chops 2nd to none, nobody close. Miles saw it when he grabbed him as a teenager, and he went straight from Miles to John McLaughlin. Jimmy Smith saw it too. Charlie Earland - another great Philly B-3 - would have been there but I think this was a few years after he passed. RIP Joey, gentle giant

Amazing talent here. Love, Love Joey D! He is missed. Wish they could assemble a recording session of today with Quennel, Cory, Glenn, Professor Gary and others of today! There are about 4 other recordings of this session, including the interviews. I've seen them all. *Thanks for putting this out again in remembrance of Joey DeFrancesco!!!*

As was always the common knowledge; the gospel organist can play jazz, but the jazz organist can't play gospel.

No offense to Joey or any of the rest of these guys but Jimmy Smith is Goat! Every jazz, dance and gospel Hammond organ player is a Jimmy Smith impersonator whether they realize it or not. Joey might even be technically better than jimmy ever was but that would only be because Jimmy personally taught him from a young age. It also helped that joey had a dad who was also a beast. Just my 2 cents worth.......and yes I am jimmy smiths #1 fan.
