You're still missing 3 seconds. I don't see this as a workaround since she could say I do during those 3 seconds 😂

excellent video! Is this true? Can I use it on the CANON SL3 and not be limited to recording just thirty minutes? With this device, can I record a podcast with the CANON SL3 lasting more than 30 minutes? I'm from Brazil Congratulations!

Although you can't press the shutter button on the camera, you have to press the dedicated video button, I am currently testing the timer action.. need to work out the timings for the remote as first attempt the camera never restarted

Say you are recording yourself play music and you don't want to disturb the full experience of your video and mess up the flow of your video, is there a way around this? It will be odd seeing a slight cut in the middle of a performance or ceremony.

I have a canon 80d and it starts with the hold button but doesn’t do intervals. When I press the start/stop button, it doesn’t work, it tries to take a photo with the camera instead of starting video. I already switched the setting to start with shutter.

This is a great tip. Much appreciated. Something I'm unclear on though, say I am shooting someone speaking. The timer gets to zero and "presses record again' as you said, but I'm unclear, is it going to be a "clean" transition, or would there be a noticeable "gap"between clips?

Just came across this video, Some up to date info ('23). I am a stills photographer and started with the A7S in '14 in Oct captured the lunar eclipse using a Canon Film lens using an adapter and was perfect. One thing to understand, back in the beginning '14 software was bad and expensive the joy then was Capture One cost $30 for Sony, today even Lr is magic. The A7s model is great for stills I went A7S because it did bracketing 5 @ 3EV (even today you will not find a program that can merge the images) 5 @ +/- 2EV is really great for sunsets/rise and blue hour for stars and dark sides of objects bright and detailed like driftwood. I got the A7R2 in '17 and with the IBIS I was able to Bracket 3 @ +/- 2EV hand held in Antelope Canyon while others were on sticks doing long exposures and at the Grand Canyon the same settings at night got the deep part and the stars on the south rim sidewalk one thing to understand NR turns off when bracketing so you get hot and dead pixels but are saved with merging they go away. The A7s did better than the A7Rii at night BUT the A7Rii can hold its own. there are apps that process in camera at sony playmemories apps www.playmemoriescameraapps.com/portal/ that make things easier like Digital Filter that will allow the capture of the Milky Way over a lit City but the site will close in 2025. I highly recommend any model and they will outperform most other brand even today, other brands just went mirrorless and are playing catch up you will not find. For a book on the models go to Brian Smith website to get a pdf or look on line for the books "You need a book to know Everything you can do". Just have fun!

Hi Austin, with this method, won't there be a gap and jump between the video clips? If you're recording a speech you might miss out on 5 seconds of dialogue which is a lot. Do you have an example of a video made this way so we can see what it looks like after the clips are spliced together? Thanks for being so straight to the point and explaining why we need that extra 5 seconds, the other video I watched was long and slow and didn't even explain what the extra seconds were for.

I can't find a Movie with shutter option on my Canon EOS R - do you know if this is available on the EOS R? Update: I found it on pg. 404 of the User Guide; it is called Button Functionality and is set on page 4 of the Wrench menu (the 4th option from the left after pressing Menu). Note: don't have the remote control plugged in when changing the functionality (ask me how I know).

This artificial 30-minute video limit ruined some of my events that I wanted recorded. It was all volunteer work, so I didn't lose any money on this, right? Wrong. I put down thousands of bucks to record events (basketball games, musical dramas, and Boy Scout events like Pinewood Derby). It's very frustrating to see that money stop early and end up being embarrassingly useless video. Thank you for providing a way to get around it with an intervalometer. Hopefully that'll help.

A7s is a scam. As far as low light you can crop 35 and go head to head with the S. Keep your resolution, AF speed, and megapixels and invest in some lighting if you have to.

Hey Austin, great video, but im having some issues getting it to work correctly, I have a Nikon Z6, followed all the steps, but when the camera reaches its record limit, instead starting back up, it counts down from the record limit before starting up again, so a whole 30 minutes is lost in between recordings, do you have any advice on what I might be doing wrong?

Check if you have 'Long Exposure Noise Reduction' turned on or off in your camera settings. If it is turned on, that is probably the issue.
