Tim Reynolds is good, but the way that Mayer and Trey get Carter absolutely ripping to end the solos is so so magic

A beautiful John Mayer tune that is one of my faves because he’s singing about dreaming and waking to reality. Ethereal. I love it. I love him

I love Dave, I love Mayer, I love this song, but I feel like John's solo just doesn't quite hit the right vibe for #41. It seems like it should have more of a mysterious wandering meandering tone vs this bluesy rock tone. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the Tim Reynold's parts. John rocks it too hard...should have leaned more into a more ethereal type tone. He kind of got there at the end, but I feel like he didn't quite understand the song overall.

This song to me is the perfect representation of life. "Come and See" You are born into the world and you go out and see new things .new ideas. New concepts cultures people etc.. U grow up and u know time is playing a game that u will lose. But you have known happiness before. And you know troubles will always come like it has before Then at some point you meet your specialsomeone that touches your soul but that youve lost... I think we all have that one person.. A young love or maybe a parent or sibling that passed away. And you know they wont come back But truly and undoubtedly you wanted to spend one more sec together You wanted to stay And feel good again like when you were young You wanted to play You wanted to keep feeling that motivation and passion that love comes with You wanted to love again . But u cant love the same again.. Not how it was when u were young And though u always believed there was a chance to get get back together It wont happen and u have to keep moving forward Then i think the second part of the lyrics he is talking to himself. He knows good times will come But he cant believe anymore Its not the same He tells himself he will wake up And bring himself water And dance in the rain and let the water splash his face And feel how he did when he was young. The solo parts speak way more volumes Than the actual lyrics. I think they simplify life adequately . It starts slow then crises and rises to a climax Then another instrument comes in and u go higher to a zenith. And then then chorus or melody from the beginning comes back and u feel happy af again . but then it starts to slow down... And in life u come to a point where youre like Wow.. I lived SUCH A HAPPY LIFE amd Such A SAD LIFE too..and honestly its perfect that way. U remember the good times the climaxes of life amd the song but in this time u learn to appreciate the falling action of life or getting old. The slow part of the song amd its soothing and its just what u need after Such amazing moments. But you keep going slowly and peacefully Playing notes very slowly yet soothing An opposite to the beginning of your life.. Magical.. Piano.. Stairs.. Then you stop... This song is an oddysey Thanks

I believe I was at this concert - Hollywood Bowl sometime around the end of GW Bush/beginning of Obama - don’t think there was any other show with JM. In hindsight, if they would have known that John Mayer would end up submitting applications to join a tour heavy jam band, I wish Dave would have added him rather than Timmy .... I like him and all, but it would be cool to mix in a little “Slow Dancing ....” or “Covered in Rain” with all the DMB regulars. Plus Watchtower gets better and maybe bookends JMs own Hendrix covers
