*sigh* I miss when we had 30k people. It was so beautiful and peaceful. 😢

Well done. Mostly. Some mispronounced words and missing prepositions here and there. But mostly, Fairbanks does not straddle the Tanana River. It straddles the Chena River. The Tanana makes up an impassible southern border of the city.

Barnette did come back to Fairbanks. Barnette was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with embezzling $50,000. The trial took place in Valdez. In December 1912, Barnette was found not guilty on all accounts except for a misdemeanor charge of falsifying a financial report. Barnette was fined $1,000. Fairbanks Daily News-Miner editor W. F. Thompson called the trial "the rottenest judicial farce the North has ever witnessed." Effigies of Barnette's attorneys were burned at the foot of Cushman Street. Although officially exonerated, Barnette's reputation as a swindler was sealed. Newspapers in the city he had founded took up "Barnette" as a verb meaning "to steal" or "to defraud".

Fairbanks dropped to 3rd and soon 4th largest town in Alaska, behind Juneau then Ketchikan. Pretty sure Fairbanks was named after some silent film movie star (some swashbuckler?)

Barnette was arrested and brought back to Fairbanks to stand trial for stealing the money from the bank. The trial was held in Valdez.

They still don't come close to Alaska. In Montana and Idaho you can drive right up to the Wilderness and if you were to walk across it you'd be out of it and at another road in less than 100 miles. In Alaska you can walk from Fairbanks to the Bering Sea for over 500 miles and never see a road let alone a town or single building.
