Seemed like a lovely day for a ride. Personally, I'd have stuck closer to the coast, but I know you've already done the route from the Albert Dock to Crosby. You can carry straight on from Hall Rd to Hightown, then pick up the path again by Hightown station, alongside the railway and the Altcar Army Training camp to Formby. After you've taken the Fisherman's Path route through the pinewoods behind Woodvale, you can actually keep to the railway for a little while longer as far as Ainsdale station. There's a very bike-friendly cafe next to the station called Mecycle cafe and bike workshop. Then you can take the coast road to Southport....or the train home. :)

Something wrong here.5 and half hours 30 mile on a bike.Thats not that much quicker than walking.A fit walker can walk 4 mile per hour. And they can eat and drink wile walking.Yes 30 mile is a long way to walk. But not to a fit marathon jogger. And fit joggers can run marathon between 3 -4 hours. When we were kids we used to cycle 22 miles ish in about 2 hours.to southport. And then ride back.

There's nothing wrong except that you did not have all your brain cells fully working when you made that comment!

I think there's a cycle path that will take you through Crosby to Formby, where you can join the Formby bypass. The Good Catch does excellent F&C. Used to know the Running Horses as well. Southport to Blackpool would be a good challenge.

Yes it runs from the promenade at Crosby up between the railway line and the Altcar Army base.

Very nice video. My dad was evacuated from Liverpool to Bangor in WWII. He used to cycle back home to Fairfield every Friday with a mate to get his washing done and then cycle back on the Sunday on his racing bike. I would need several days to do that now...
