how do you roll and lean back so far?that looks like a standard modern sea kayak. I can only lean back so much with mine and then it hurts a bunch with the coaming digging into my lower back

Nice, tnx. One small remark: the music is a bit too loud, sometimes I could not understand what you say. Great clip though, I'll used it in my prep for a roll this somber.

Great video. Thanks for reminding me that I'm being a wuss by not wanting to practice rolls in my 48 degree F water.

Awesome variety of seemingly effortless rolls great way to show new people that there is probably a technique that they can use and that you dont have to use a lo of muscle once you have practiced BUT its even better when you don't have to chop a hole in the ice so that you can actually go somewhere after practicing your rolls. Come to Lake Tahoe and kayak year round, it does not freeze!

La tecnica es buena, pero meter la cabeza en el agua con tanta mier** , mejor algo que no vuelque

This would be a great video if it wasn't for the seriously irritating music. I'm not going to watch it because it's drowning out the dialog.

Thanks for the video (though I agree, it would be better without the music), great to see someone else rolling around in the ice, though my rolling skills aren't yet what yours are. After playing last week in the South Saskatchewan River I wrote up some of my observations and lessons on my blog.

Other than demonstration for an audience, does the Elbow Crook Roll and the Shot Gun roll serve any practical purpose? I am curious about the previous question as well. Why would the Greenland paddles be surperior to flatwater paddles. One reason I can see, is that it can be used as a psuedo club to break ice. Enjoyed the video: Certainly want to learn that Elbow/Crook roll. Thanks.

Why do you say that Greenland paddles are superior for flatwater kayaking? You may prefer them for traditional reasons, but they are not widely used.
