It looks so different than the constant traveling in todays game. There isn't a single triple step back, or double hop on the same foot, or carry in the whole video.

Im so tired of Dennis Johnson he was never that good at all! Very slow ,not really a good shooter litte jump shots somtimes, not a good rebounder , not a goid defender! Any releancet he had was because Larry took him under his wing! Same goes for Parish! If Bird had a Stockton zand a Ewing he woul have had about 6-8 championships!

When Celtics get dj from Phoenix he was known as a problematic player. But his teammates found how to get along with him.

There were so many really good teams in the early to mid '80s and DJ was a big partnof what made those Celtics teams so great. Not only did DJ make Bird better, he was a great all-around player in this own right.

Still makes me mad as fire that DJ wasn't able to attend his own induction into the HOF. If he'd lived another ten or more years would they have allowed another year, and another year, and another year to go by continuing to ignore him? He should have made the class two decades ago.

There is a video where Dee Brown is talking about how DJ taught him some tricks on how to play defense. He said DJ told him every player has a comfortable and uncomfortable dribble pattern. So, he would watch each of the players during the game and learn their patterns. He could then judge just when to "pick the ball off people". I think, but I may be wrong, that it was when a player was comfortable and not in defense mode, it was easier to take the ball away. Has anyone else heard about this? It is on KZitem. I think on the NBA history channel with Michael Cooper. So when Larry Bird said they thought alike, I wonder if it had something to do with how they saw patterns in their minds.

Dennis Johnson was the toughest player on every team he played for until he came to Boston. I am not saying that anyone on the Celtics was tougher but they would have all put up a good fight. DJ set the table, defended and shot better in the 4th quarter like all the real winners at the pro level.

I really enjoy watching dj play. He always made it so he was part of whatever play was happening. Not to mention the fact that he wasn’t the biggest guy on the court, but would defend against bigger players as if it was his duty. You always had to watch him because you never knew where he was gonna be or what he was gonna do. Respect for Dennis Johnson. Rest in peace brother. Never wasting a second to try to show off fancy moves. He was humble, efficient, and his team all appreciated what he did for them.

Both men had outstanding vision ....Dennis and Larry thought alike, played alike, understood each other and complimented each other and I submit the best duel to ever play in the NBA. What is truly amazing is their passing abilities and how quickly both men reacted and again that is because of their vision and Mr. Johnson is MORE deserving an NBA HOF.
