I'm driving one of the last ones our company has and none of the remaining mechanics are familiar with it. Years ago my previous Sterling (built the same day, 3 serial numbers earlier) wouldn't flow air even though the mechanic said he replaced the cabin filter. A second mechanic tinkered around and found the second plugged filter. This current tractor cane from across the state and I'm sure it's got original moldy filters. Once you turn off defrost it fogs the windshield completely for about ten minutes and then clears up as it should. I'm suspecting the filter and SOD farm it's become is holding any A/C condensation as that drain tube doesn't drip like the previous truck did

Question: I have a similar anchor already, I saw you demonstrate your anchor breaking the zip tie but not sure why setting it up that way is important? Does that prevent it from getting stuck on the bottom? Rather new and I'd rather learn from others' mistakes and prevent my own.

Not sure which transducer it is. It came with the Striker 4 cv. I did use longer screws. It was difficult to install. I used a screw driver that has a 90° angle. Perception in bedded threaded nuts into the hull and added extra thickness to the hull so the screws don't go through.

There is a small blue rope that attaches to a cleat on the transom motor mount. This prevents the kayak from sliding off the cart. Otherwise the weight of kayak and the pool noodles kept it stable.

Yes, I used a 1/2" rode through the pvc. Then cut some 1/2" copper pipe as bushings. I have a parts list if you want it.

@anthonyvespia6662

Side mount it. Island hopper outboards makes a nice aluminum fitted side transom, with 3 rod holders for you. It's light aluminum, with black coated rod holders. I have a feel free moken 10 lite, with the fitted side transom from them. I have my 2.5 hp outboard in the side transom, with a 6ft single outrigger. I fish a 900 acre lake. So I can do alot of site seeing camp trips, don't need a big battery, small one for my gps and fishfinder. The stern of your vessel is looking like it's underwater. They're beautiful and strong, full of fuel, my outboard weighs maybe 31lbs..

love all the mods, gonna steal a few. did the battery fit under the seat before you raised it or is that why?
@TheJcdm327
3 жыл бұрын
The battery didn't fit before. It does now. It was one reason for raising the seat but not the major reason. I've since abandoned the idea of battery under the seat idea. Even though the kayak is 0.3 mph faster with it under there it causes more problems than it solves. The battery is in the milk crate behind the seat. Now I can reach all my stuff I need while I fish.

Hey man I have the same kayak and just got them same fish finder for Christmas but can’t figure out how to install it becsuse of all the wires are yours all visible or are they hidden in a box or something
@TheJcdm327
3 жыл бұрын
The transducer wire comes up through the scupper hole into a Harbor Freight amo box where the battery is. I've also mounted the Striker on top of the box. The box is secured to the accessory mount with 3/4" pvc. Wire exposures is minimal. I tired mounting the fish finders closer to the seat but it was in the way and hard to see.

How long does the battery last? I just got an Outlaw and want to put in the trolling motor also.
@TheJcdm327
3 жыл бұрын
Hard to say exactly. It boils down to mathmatics. I ran a test on the amperage draw for all speed settings. If my memory serves me correctly the highest speed #5 pulled about 23 amps. Therefore a 60ampHour battery will run for a little over 2.5 hours on high. 60/23=2.6. I don't remember all of the data exactly but I think #4 pulled about 18 amps. So the battery would power the motor on #4 for about 3.3 hours. Obviously you would use various speed settings during your day. If the lowest speed setting only pulled 4 amps (again I don't remember, but I think I'm close) then you could run 15 hours on low. I know that I can use the lowest setting to combat wind or just troll along a bank for most of the day and have enough to get back on the smaller lakes I fish. After running the test I don't use high very often. #4 pushes me along about 2 mph and that is sufficient . #5 gets me about 3.3mph. So, you can use it all day on a small lake if you manage your speed settings wisely. There are advantages to the higher priced lithium batteries certainly. The better choice if you can afford one. Lead acid batteries are basically dead after 50% depletion. draining them below 50% (12 volts) will damage the battery. 11.9 volts = a dead battery don't continue to use it. Lithium can go until it's actually dead with no harm. Someone correct me if I am wrong. BTW I use a Minn_Kota 30# trolling motor with a 60 amp/hour deep cycle marine battery.
