I grew up In Bay Shore, Long Island, New York. Went to Brook Avenue School, Bay Shore Middle School. Graduated High School Class of 71'. Used to go to Wetsons for my Burgers and Fries. My dad had our boat at the old Marina Docks. Went to the Roller Rink on Saturday mornings. Bowling at night on weekends. Golfing on Fire Island. I never took the Fire Island Queen though. I remember the Robert Moses Bridge being built. Remember The South Shore Mall when it was still an Open Air Mall. Movies at the old Regent and Bay Shore Theaters. The Old Farmers Market. I left in 1977. Main Street and the town have changed a lot. . Progress is a great thing to have. But so are memories.

Thank you so much for the video. I moved off of Long Island in 1998. Forced to live due to high taxes and electricity. I have to admit I am teary eyed as Bayshore was my home for 38 years😢😢😢

Thanks, Rich... A literal trip down Memory Lane. Napper Tandy's... did that used to be Solomon Grundy's? Wow, Faber & Wilkins' old shop is well and truly gone. Gotta watch again and see if I can pick out the old buildings for W. T. Grant's, and Freistadt's pharmacy...

Napper Tandy's is the old Firehouse. Solomon Grundy's was about a half block west of that. Peninsula Asian restaurant is where Grant's was located. Freistadt's was on the left side, just before Mars Auto Parts.

My family moved from Brooklyn to Bay Shore in 1950, I was only three, but growing up there was pure wonderful Americana, and then in the sixties, bulldozers appeared everywhere on Long Island and they destroyed all the charm and transformed it into a traffic filled nightmare of overpopulated, overtaxed ,overcrowded world of endless traffic lights, that it is today. I will never go there again, because there is no more nature, just concrete and salted roads!
