Every Asian or Russian parent so wanted their child to be the next Mozart eh? Why? Why being a child prodigy is so important? Why? Does this child going to have a normal childhood or life after all?

As an Asian parent for 2 now grown sons…. I experienced first handed account how and what kind of expectations and pressures Asian parents put on their children to be the next poster child to show off to the community, country or even to the world…. I almost always asked myself this…. Yes. It is great to “ encouraged” and “ nurtured” your children to be successful and find a passion and “helped” them to develop great sense of accomplishment…. Of course that’s probably most parents in the world wanted for their children…. But why is it seemingly always Asian kids are always “Have” to be the top in the school academic achievement, why almost always Asian kids that showcase as a child prodigy in classical music? Yes, the world and most of the society would argue with my pov that that’s why so many Asian being successful and famous plus good on what they do in their selective few professions, etc! Do you know how many Asian children fell through the cracks and became depress, mentally ill and their lives destroyed by all those pressures and expectations from very early age???? I love music myself, I started piano and violin when I was 7 years old, but I quoted and completely hated it after 7 years non- stop pressure, expectations plus many many emotional, physical and physiological abuses by my parent regarding my “ practices” “ performance “ “competition results” I hated violin, piano and classical music for so long…. Until “I” rediscovered my love of music and playing the violin and piano again after more than 30 years later when I was in my 50, I live to play my violin and piano plus other instruments for myself, for my love and fun! One of my son is a concert level of pianist but my other son do not like classical music or any classical instrument, he love other type of music or art form, and me and my wife have never pressured or forced them to learn any instrument when they were little, my piano playing son told me he was inspired by me playing and listening of classical music and other forms of music since he was young. Now we play together for no one, just ourself! Seeing a 3 years old doing this…… bring back a lot of PTSD and bad memories of my childhood…. I bet I am not the only one growing up as Asian feeling and seeing what I meant.

Absolutely impressive. First that he can follow the timing with an orchestra. Second that he learned this out of memory. Third that he can be so musical for such a young age. And last…. This is a piece for intermediate pianists out of ´Lyric moments’ from Catherine Rollin book. Intermediate pianists stage take years to reach. He is only learning for one year. Incredibly good.

Age two started playing piano and after a year of lugging his equipment in and out of bars and clubs and at age three he is playing with an orchestra. Never give up on your dreams.
