I love the idea of a more artistic nature that you were going for, unfortunately as we all witnessed, it's not viable to have plants inside to go for the look you were going for I would love to see you take a crack at it again! Because we can't see inside of the box i think it would be the only time to allow the sinful act of adding plastic plants, that way you can have the illusion of plants inside casting shadows, especially if you don't want the glowing green effect That's my idea anyways

Thanks for your appreciation of the build! It’s been more than 6 months since I set up the aquarium and there haven’t been any problems with the Modules. The spider wood twigs I used have degraded quite a bit, but not the 3D prints. I have another aquarium with a PLA print that’s been unaffected for more than 2 years. I can’t speak for every filament from every manufacturer, but normal PLA only breaks down quickly if it’s processed by an industrial composter.

Yeah, no problems with any plastic leeching. I’ve also had the same kind of 3D printed plastic in another aquarium for a couple of years with no issues. The Modules are made from PLA, which comes from plant starch - so it doesn’t carry the same harmful stuff as some other plastics.
