The Koio look nicer than the Crown Northamptons and Common Projects in m6 opinion.

Mercer makes the best OCBD for my money. They have measurements online if you’re unsure of sizing. It’s best to compare these measurements with a well fitting shirt from your closet. They also have the option to slim/taper shirts for a fee, but why mess with perfection? Keep in mind, these shirts are designed for old school trad enthusiasts who prefer the baggy, breezy fit reminiscent of 80s and 90s Brook Brothers shirts. There’s no “finish” on these shirts. The cloth they use is extremely robust and designed to take a beating. Putting them in the dryer won’t affect the integrity of the fabric, it might shrink it slightly however. The fabric will soften in time after multiple wears and wash cycles. I recommend ironing your shirt to increase softness and increase longevity.

Wow great deal! Lots of great Uni stripe OCBDS. Dont sleep on the yellow stripe one - they are actually pretty versatile! If you use blue dawn dish soap on the stain it should come out!

Get that Drakes OCBD and do a round up review of all the brands. Also do you have an O'Connells "Heavyweight" OCBD? Thats one that I am really interested in

I have an O’Connells ocbd, but I don’t think it’s the heavyweight. The one I have is lighter, and I have a problem with the collar, which could be because of how thin the fabric is. The fabric is really soft though. I didn’t know they had a heavier one, so thanks for the info!

@@lukeschoenberger86 No problem! You can find it on their website, it is listed as heavyweight but I have no idea what it feels like.

Nice to see some videos on Mercer shirts! Will probably try one when they update their website this fall. Off topic: have you tried Proper Cloth’s OCBDs? The basic oxford for around a 100 is a really nice, beefy 100% cotton fabric. They are also well made with tight stitching, shanked buttons and pretty good buttonholes. The best thing about them is that you can dial in the fit really well. For example, a ”Mercer fit” (they don’t offer it but you can make it yourself) with a corrected collar and neck posture and longer sleeves. If you have tried them/are going to try them it would be nice to hear how they compare to the legendary Mercer. Also, are the buttons on Mercer shirts shanked? They don’t look like it to me. It’s not a deal-breaker but something you would expect for a shirt that costs over 200.

What do you mean by shanked? I did buy a Proper Cloth shirt at one point but sent it back. I really liked how the shirt fit and the quality and thickness of the fabric. I sent it back because the shirt had almost a glossy finish to it; I think the was a problem specific to this color and wouldn’t be a problem with all of their shirts. I’ve wanted to try their Pima cotton oxford.

Great review. My Mercer shirt was a similar experience. I'd only add that add that fabric is fantastic. It's a very heavy oxford cloth. It contributes to s great drape and I think contributes to the collar roll. How does this shirt compare to J Press fabric weight and drape?

I recently acquired 5 used Mercer and sons ocbds, and I would say that I like the fabric on those better than the Jpress shirt that I have. I feel like the Mercer and sons shirt that I bought new still needs to be broken in more. The used Mercer and sons shirts are softer than the Jpress shirt that I have, but the Jpress shirt is a newer shirt. Long term, I feel like the new Mercer and sons shirt will be softer than the Jpress shirt, but I do like the finish on the Jpress shirt. They’re both great shirts.

They do provide measurements for shoulder, chest, sleeve, etc. with the option to customize body size to a different collar size to get a better fit for about $20 extra, worth considering to avoid further alterations after receipt.

I should have looked at the sizing ahead of time. It’s definitely my fault. The collar swap is good to know. Thanks for that tip. I recently purchased 5 used Mercer and Sons ocbds off eBay, and I feel like there sizing changed at some point. The shirts I bought were all 15.5s, but 3 out of 5 were significantly smaller than the other 2.

That’s a nice unboxing. I notice that on the S&M, you have a 15.5/34. On the Kamakura a 16. Kamakura has that reputation for running smaller. It would be cool if you could cover that aspect in your review. With Kamakura having closed their US stores and shipping and returns being what it is, I bet people would like to have a size comparison to more familiar brands. Maybe even throw in some Lands’ End, if you have it.

I originally bought a Kamakura shirt with a 15.5 neck but had to bite the bullet and pay the money to have it returned. It was too small around the chest, but I have a decent size chest and lats. Now that I’ve worn it a little bit, I’ll try to do a video video on my experience of it, including sizing.

Looking forward to more! I’ve been trying to find my go-to OCBD as well. I haven’t pulled the trigger on Mercer for a lot of the reasons you shared here, but I love my J. Press and O’Connell’s shirts.

do you have the insole measurements on the 10? I normally wear a 10 and went with a 9 on these. they fit half a size too small

Hey did you end up keeping the 9s or did you exchange for a size 10? I'm a size 10 and I'm not sure if I should just order a size 10 or wait until I'm in NYC to visit the store and get them on.

Hi, I have a pair of Crown Northamtons in a size 9.5 UK size, US 10.5 size. I would like a pair of the Koio Capri but not sure on sizing. What size are you and what size did you order in these two pairs of shoes? Thanks.
