Nice. I want to move to the mountains on to a farm. I often think about putting the hives in the barn. They're sheltered, high enough to not be harrassed by bears, etc.

I hear the bees don’t care for horizontal hives, how are your bees doing after years of using this hive?

Love your hive. Can u give me detailed management of a long hive please? Are the brood frames at the entrance? Do you put honey frames all behind brood or put brood in the middle with honey frames on either side?

It isn't natural to go sideways for bees so when You add supers that is where they start storing honey. People saying that long hives are awesome cos they are easy to work - yes but not much honey is being produced.

Do you mean two diffrent frame sizes? The horizontal hive size is ofcourse adjustable, need more space? Just slide the divider board further along. I stuck with only deep frames throughout all my horizontal hives for cinsistancy

Verry good idea the bees are producing more honey because they don’t need to work hard to keep the hive temperature regulated which means consuming less honey

I've always questioned your choice to add pegs to the slats. That's a lot of work for some little convenience. But in this video I see that it will prevent you from squishing bees. I see the keepers in other videos with plain slats. They remove the slats, don't know what to do with them, then end up stacking them while they are covered in bees.

I like this design. It is one of my favorites. I made some improvements. I made a video for a design of a “horizontal long beehive design with the option to stack 8-frame supers”. You can do a search with those words between quotations to find the video on youtube. I think horizontal hives are the best.

I love your design. Do you make and sell your hives?
Joe, Slovenians have been using sheds for hundreds of years. Their hives are like cabinets. The bees come and go from the outside and the beekeeper opens the back door. Your hive setup is awesome. I wish you sold your hives. Great videos. Susan N W Georgia
