Just imagine, a couple decades from now and Gen Z-ers like me will be showcasing Audubon birds (plush birds that had voice boxes with recordings of actual birds according to the species that each one was modeled after), or those gorillas that danced to the Macarena, or robotic dancing and singing fish, among other things.

Excellent Videos, thanks for Sharing. I love all old Toys. From Lionel & Marx Trains to Wind Ups and Battery operated. Lots of Fun, even at 65 Years Old! I look at them as a Fun History and an investment to leave to my Grandkids to enjoy long after I'm Gone.

It's so much better to use a Paint stripper.. I use the orange paint stripper "CitriStrip" it's inexpensive, and it's safe on the lungs, and if you get it on your skin it doesn't burn your skin off.. I recommend Waring eye protection, gloves, and a face mask anyway.. Another thing that I like to do is remove all the tires, and get the underside as nice as the body.. And after all the old paint has been removed I use a brass wire wheel on my Dremel, and finish it up with triple odd steel whool.. Keep in mind that the prep is just as if not more important as the paint.. When all looks good I replace any bad tires with vintage tires in good condition.. You can go on Ebay and get new tires and stain them to look old but I don't as I like to keep everything as original as possible.. I think we all share an interest in passion for these old toys, and we have our own way of restoring old them.. All I say is try to keep it safe and have fun because that's what this hobby is all about.. And I like to hear from other guys, and gals who do this.. I think you did an awesome job.. They look really nice.. Thank you for sharing with us .. Benny..

Have you ever had the axle nails broken off or corroded away inside? What do you do then? While painting the grill and lights you mentioned that you looked at a guide to confirm how the originals were done. Can you point me towards that guide please?

Oven cleaner has lye or caustic soda in it which attacks aluminum and zinc. That is the absolute worst thing to use on these cars. Try commercial floor stripper. It will remove paint and won't eat plastic. You can toss the whole car in with the tires. Since these cars were usually only painted on the outside so you could leave the tires on and mask them and the axle if they're good.

why oven cleaner as a stripper? I don't get that, there are strippers that are less hazardous. Heck even caustic soda isn't as dangerous as this spray stuff and works almost instantly in most cases. .

At 49 minutes the vise grip seems too large. Cheap vise grips come several sizes smaller than the big ones. At harbor freight.

i have a HO model railway and mainly what i use for vehicles are old hot wheels cars/trucks. now i’ve expanded my vehicle lot so the roads looks more busy. the only problem is some of the cars have details on them that i don’t particularly like. usually i prime and repaint the cars, but i watched this video, and right when I saw you use the dremil i said “ hey, i wonder how well that would would on removing paint

I am working on a 1/64th collection of the cars my Dad and I have had during our lives. Some are very hard to find. No one makes a 1/64th 1960 Ford Falcon sedan. It was a cheap piece of crap that rusted out in 2 years and the rear springs collapsed. No one has seen fit to memorialize such an underpowered dog of a car. Amazingly, I found a small tootsie toy of this very car. Who would have thought it? I'll be restoring it using this fellows work as a guide.

Marvin Jones caustic soda, or lye, will damage your lungs (I can’t believe he’s happily doing this indoors - he’s coughing ffs) but also easily takes skin off. I rubbed my knuckle against some caustic soda and it took a 1cm square patch of skin off instantly. Don’t mess around with this, it’s so dangerous, I avoid using it.

I liked the concept so I gave this a watch. The coughing and gagging you are doing is a terrible thing to advocate to people. Then all the metal from the sanding & grinding. You are creating particles that hang in the air like rice in jello. These spread throughout your home to keep breathing-in long after you "think" they are gone. You should really take better care of your health.
