I love this version. They did an amazing cover. Very goosebumpy! I am assuming you have watched their video with the amazing imagery accompanying the song. Very powerful. I have to say, I like your format for veiwing, with the video full screen and you in the corner. I haven't seen others do it this way.

What really shows the true power of disturbs remake of this song. Is the crowd, in this video. If you watch and listen at the end of the video. Not one person makes any sound, untill a fraction of a second after the last cord was played. You ask why that is important ? Because every single person in that crowd was totally hypnotized by Disturbs powerful performance of this song. And it took that fraction of a second, to come out of it. And start start applause.

4:22 I'm a singer. He doesn't have much range! He's maintaining one or two octaves. What you are probably thinking about his range is actually a crescendo and decrescendo. It's the volume of his voice not really a change of pitch! There is a little bit of pitch change, but not much! He knows hows to stick with his vocal range and the correct octave. Mostly just raising his volume up and down!

My interpretation of the song The Sound of Silence. This song is written with two separate people or consciousnesses singing it. Those that are waking up and those that have been awake for a very long time. The first, third and fifth verse is sung from the perspective of the unawakened and the second and forth verse are sung from the perspective of the awakened. Hello, darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again Because a vision softly creeping Left its seeds while I was sleeping And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence Hello, darkness, my old friend is about people that have been kept in the dark and they're telling the darkness that they are experiencing something new in their vision. They (the awakened/aware ones) planted the seeds of truth/Light, and they are just starting to become aware. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone 'Neath the halo of a streetlamp I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence There are fewer of the awakened, and they feel as if they are alone under the Light of truth, because they refused to by into the lies the dark has been trying to feed them. Then one day they saw a crack in the armor of dark, a tear in the matrix, if you will and in that moment they saw a opportunity to break the sound of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share No one dared Disturb the sound of silence And in that moment they saw all of the light workers/star seeds (awakened Ones) telling those that were still asleep the truth/Light, through telepathy those that were sleeping heard and saw the truth/Light in a very subtle way, but yet they couldn't share this Light/truths with anyone for fear of being attacked by those that controlled the sound of silence. They wrote the truth in songs, the truth had to be give covertly as not to disturb the sound of silence (the dark). And when the people became aware of theLight/truth and realized that they had been in darkness the whole time, it really pissed them off. "Fools," said I, "You do not know Silence like a cancer grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you." But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence They reached out to those still in slumber, trying to give them Light/truths, but they wouldn't open their minds to new truths, instead remained in the sound of silence. And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets Are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence." The people were so caught up in working hard to pay for all of the things, the boats, cars, electronics, all of the toys that they covet. They couldn't see or hear the truth, they were too distracted by consumerism. The awakened/prophets have been trying to tell them through their songs and poems, and that whisper of Light/truth awakened the people from their slumber and they became ONE. Did you notice the ship sailing into the Light at the end of the studio version?

I’ve been listening to Disturbed since 1997, love this song as much as anything I’ve ever heard from them, for very different reasons! But i will never get over the power in his voice while seated on a high stool! Unreal! He’s also turned into quite the dramatist! I have always been drawn to the anger and sense of powerlessness evoked in metal. David Draiman and Aaron Lewis might be the two most evocative voices in the genre! Not to take anything away from others, just my opinion! In straightup rock, no one can beat Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, and Kurt Cobain, and I was born in 1955. To be fair, this emotion style would never have been allowed by record companies in the early days of recordings! They spent years toning down Elvis, Little Richard was whitewashed, Willie Nelson was hidden from the stage, and when they couldn’t control personalities, they would just hand the song over to Pat Boone or his equivalent! I’m so proud to have lived long enough to see honesty come to music! I know it’s still limited but honesty will always find a way!
