1963 this 9 year olds bought the 45’s of these songs. They were the first records I would play over and over. 1982 I moved bank to Chicago and a couple blocks was Nicks bar. I was not much of a drinker but they had a great juke box with these two songs. I tried to find them at the record store but could not. I saw a reference to Phil Spector in the back of a Rolling Stone with the name Danny Davis and an address. I wrote explaining my dilemma. He wrote back, he spoke to Phil , and if acceptable Phil would send me a cassette with the two songs. I replied yes, received the cassette with a card that had thank you in many languages printed and Phil’s signature across one side of the card. I saw La La several years ago at the Ponderosa Music Festival in New Orleans. Love these two songs and that time in music as much today as a 69 year old..

That 'era' of music had real talent; like a fine wine, it simply doesn't age, it does last the distance to be appreciated by future generations.

La La wasn’t sure if she did well or not. She didn’t want to watch the tape after the show. But when she finally did, she asked me, “That wasn’t too bad, was it?” I said “La La! Listen to the audience reaction. They went wild!”. She is still very humble. I cherish our friendship. 🙂

I know I already left a comment, but I had to come back and watch this again 5 minutes later. There is magic in this performance that is seldom seen anywhere at any time. This was an event, a moment in time that was captured on film. This is America in all its glory, with Ms. LaLa Brooks of the Crystals as our singing Statue of Liberty. This brought the house town, and a few tears to my eyes.
