I’m sorry you are going through this… I lost my hearing overnight in 2005 but was misdiagnosed as well. It took 3 years to finally get my proper diagnosis which was a brain tumor unfortunately. I had an Acoustic Neuroma. I am completely deaf on my left side. I can tell you someday it gets a little better but you will always not be able to tell direction sounds and the more background noise the harder you will have with understanding voices. I have a BAHA made by cochlear but I hardly use it but I’m at home disable from a spinal cord injury. With your balance issues be cautious as you will loose your balance more often and that is how I broke my neck. Good luck on your journey!

How are you doing now? I lost most of my hearing in my left ear over a year ago. I still don’t know why but I am in my early forties and it has been quite difficult adjusting. People will never understand until they go through it themselves. I can say that I have definitely taken my hearing for granted over the years and had no idea how difficult it can be when you lose hearing especially in one ear only because you really rely on both ears working together. I can no longer tell which direction sound is coming from and I also find it very difficult to hear people in loud area with a lot of people talking. My balance is off and I sometimes find it difficult to talk also.

in 2007 i picked up my office phone to my right ear. it sounded all buzzy i thought something was wrong with the phone. i put it to my left and could hear fine. i went from normal to low distorted hearing overnight. several years later i went to an ent who ran some tests and thought his reading found and acoustic neuroma. i was ordered to get an mri and they found a meningioma and an arachnoid cyst. im now losing hearing in my left side too.

I'm so sorry you went through this. I experienced this back in 2013-2014 and my hearing has been replaced with constant tinnitus every since. It was really hard because at the time I was in the Navy onboard a ship and losing my hearing took my confidence away. Several years later I'm still trying to adapt to this and it really takes a long time to reintegrate back into social situations. Keep your head up and embrace this as much as possible, I had to do that in order to get my confidence back and start to live my life again. I'm actually going to start learning ASL so I can communicate better should the unforseen happen to my good ear.

hey so im scared i might be deaf in my left ear and that my doctor diagnosed me wrongly. i told the doctor that my left ear feels clogged and that i cant hear well. i didnt hear ringing and i didn't really have any pain. my doctor said that i just have an ear infection and they gave me antibiotics and said i have to take them for 10 days, but im scared that after those 10 days, im still not gonna be able to hear that good :( not to mention that i went to a urgent care i've never been to before and i doctor that i've never met before..so far its been 2 days taking the medicine. wish me luck <3 im very very anxious!

Hi Annabelle. So sorry that you're having a stressful time. It is of course normal to feel worried, although just because this happened to Issa doesn't necessarily mean it will happen to you. But, you know yourself best and even if the doctor is right and you do just have an ear infection, if it's worrying you this much maybe it's a good idea to get a second opinion, even if it's just for peace of mind. If you can't get one and the antibiotics still don't help after 10 days, go back in and re-evaluate with your doctor. Good luck, let us know how it goes!!

Hi there. So sorry to hear this, losing a child is something no one should have to go through. I'm sure that Rachel and Taylor will see this and if you did want to get in touch I know they've expressed they're more than happy to speak to and support others who've dealt with the same thing. One thing we want to achieve with this platform is to help people come together and find each other through shared experiences, as sad as they may be. Wishing you all the best
