Great bike! Have you fitted handlebar risers? Du you know the specific model of the air cushion?

On behalf of your subscribers, we're in it for your looks :p Seriously though, I'm in it for the 1200GS footage. We have a 650GS, love hard luggage on it. But we're on road 95% of the time.

Hi Gerhard. I too have a 2008 Transalp 700 and like the idea of the foot peg lowering kit. Where did you purchase them from?
@GerhardCombrink

Hi Gary, the foot peg is made by SW-Motech. Just remember to re-adjust the brake lever after install in a lower position, which I found tricky due to the location of the adjuster behind the frame.

Hey G. What's the brand of your top box
@GerhardCombrink

Hi Patrick. Hard boxes I use are BMW oem on the 1250, Motoradical on the 1200 and I have a Trax I fit to any third bike I get since they have a wide range of mounting plates. The panniers are Givi Outback trekkers.

Is the small extension on the front wind shield any good? i have e a GIVI bigger wind shield and i think its just not big enough .
@GerhardCombrink

I found that that small extension eliminates a substantial amount of buffeting even on much smaller screens (had the same extension on a KLR) due to the angle adjustment and the way it channels air, thus a smaller screen and the extension works better than a taller screen on it's own even if the smaller screen plus extension is substantially lower than the taller screen.

@@GerhardCombrinkwhich one do you have? And would you recommend it?

I prefer soft luggage as well. The main reason is pretty bad roads in my country(hello from Kyiv, Ukraine). Soft luggage can better handle vibrations and light dropping of the bike offroad. Also I use center top box for commuting around town.

I’m looking for midweight adventure bike. I have a 2018 mint condition 5000 only miles V Strom 1000, but really do not like it’s lumpiness at low revs in the traffic and on narrow back lanes. Is the trans-of lumpy at very low speeds? Smoothest engine I ever had at low speeds was a 1991 Yamaha XTZ750 but too old now. I need the off-road capability, with super smooth engine at low speeds And still able to cruise comfortable E at 80 miles an hour on the highway!

Hi great video have a transalp as well same as yours. Did the same thing with the brackets for the phone but I used some spare IKEA cabinet plates and it works well. Trying to find a folding gear leaver at the moment but it is hard to get one that fits. Thanks

Thanks Claude. Quite easy to make one yourself. I used a 12mm x 3mm piece of aluminium, 300mm long which means you can easily bend it down to size using a bench clamp and a hammer. Measure the distance between the gap (mine was 210mm) and mark the aluminium exactly in the middle (in my case I had 45mm left on either side). Insert the aluminium into the bench clamp up to the mark, tighten securely and use the hammer to bend it to a sharp 90 degree angle. Repeat on both sides. Test the bracket to ensure a tight fit and adjust by reducing/enlarging the angle of the sides slightly. Then you just need to drill two holes in the bracket on either side. Use 4 self tapping screws to screw the bracket in place minding the screws already in the fairing. Tip, use self adhesive foam between the fairing and the bracket before you screw it in to minimize vibrations and to take up any small measuring errors. On my bracket I attached a Ram ball on one side and used epoxy to attach a very thin flat iron on the other side to magnetically attach my thermometer which in turn has a strong neodymium magnet attached making it easy to remove and does not budge when attached. Also a handy way to attach toll fee dongles, garage door openers, etc.

Nice one Gerhard. Is the skidplate also SW-motech? 20mm Handlebar riser fitted? What make of screen did you fit?
@GerhardCombrink

Thanks Anton! Indeed the bash plate is a SW-Motech. The screen is Givi and the spoiler on top is a Puig. The combination of the two really works well with the spoiler in the upper most position, a little too well for summer maybe.
