I had no idea there was a book written exclusively about Gene Pitney. Sounds like the right person rose to the task. Bravo! I love his genuine enthusiasm! I saw Gene in concert several times. I still have my program from the mid-1960s for the Gene Pitney Show in Chicago.

I never get tired of hearing the remarkable story of Harry Harrison. Love hearing it from his daughter. I learned a lot about him that I didn't know. Great job on the interview. My wife worked at the same radio station Harry worked at in Peoria (WPEO) - only 30 years after. Harry always stayed just ahead of changes his profession went through over the years. He rode the wave of the best years at every station he worked at. Thank you for sharing this interview with us!

Dear Patty and Patrick, I grew up “across the stream” at the end of Frasco Lane and as a teenager knew all of the Harrison kids. Today, while hiking through the Alpine BSC, at 8 Ball Rock, I came up on a memorial for BJ Harrison. It was hard to believe with as many times as I’ve walked up there I’d never before noticed the memorial. Seeing the memorial rekindled nice memories of BJ, and of his brothers Michael and Patrick and sister Patty. I wanted to post this picture of the memorial but don’t seem to have that ability. Patty or Patrick, please cross the stream and knock on my door and say hi and I’ll give you the picture or I’d love to hike up to the memorial with you and pay respects to BJ! I also wanted to express my condolences for the loss of mom, dad and your two brothers.

Bill Thank You for sharing KZitem video. I first learned, of Harry because my grandmother, was tuned to WMCA 570 AM on all of her radios in the house & car, at the ago of 3. Yes and then into many generations of my family until WCBS FM went Off the Air to JACK FM. Years back my son woke me up, from sleeping, from a Midnight shift as a police officer and broke me the Great News that Harry Harrison would be returning back, on WCBS FM Saturday mornings. Harry loved & supported all including our Police, Fire, EMS, Dr's & Nurses everyday and would make a Bad Day in our line, of work and Great Day, of Happiness. PRAYERS TO PATTI & PATRICK FOR THERE LOSS BUT REMEMBER WHEN YOU ARE DOWN, THAT DAD MADE MANY OF HIS LOYAL LISTENERS PUT A SMILE ON THERE FACES EVERYDAY

Gene also thought he might have Irish descendants. Whenever he stayed at the hotel where i was a telephonist, he had me going through the phone book making a note of everybody with the name of Pitney! He rang each one, asking if they might be related! Also I knew back then his correct age - he was a year older than me - which is why he always called me 'little girl'! :)

Gene was a lovely, happy laid back kinda guy. Every one who met him, loved him. Yet, despite his fame, he was the most unstarry person I ever met.

We have all experienced some type of sadness in our lives but he had the gift to evoke emotions via his voice. Many popular songs of the 1960’s had heart & soul unlike the singers of subsequent generations. Music is just not sung like this anymore & the writers are also either lacking or they’re just not promoting music like this anymore. Writers like Burt Bacharach, who wrote many a hit song for pop singers back in the day, just don’t seem to exist anymore. We’re talking close to 60 years ago so the likes of this type of music are long gone. Thankfully, the recordings still exist.

Gene and Roy Orbison were the first pop artists to sing a Top C in a modern pop song. Gene's 'I'm Gonna be Strong' and Roy's 'The Actress' and later, 'A love so beautiful' from the Mystery Girl Album. My wife and I named our second son 'Gene', because he was such an influence on my life. Yes, a special voice and a great loss.
