The new mgmt has been quite extraordinary - dynamic, adaptable, experimental, tightly connected w/ youth culture, conscious about cost cutting, and has a more local oriented bottom-up mindset. Starbucks and Costa look really stale and stagnant in comparison.

So Spotify doesn't make any money, and artists can't make any money off of it... hahaha... the music industry is fucked... it is paying dearly for all those years when it overcharged for its products and forced consumers to purchase entire albums just to access the one or two good songs they contained. I have ZERO sympathy

Their designs are not flattering or beautiful. They make super basic stuff and very overpriced too. They are succesful thanks to good marketing and the fact they are targetting idiot customers with it. For sure the product does not sell itself cause it's shit.

I think the extension into shoes and other sports is probably an over extension. They need to better their main offering for comfortable athletic wear and lounge wear instead of trying to diversify into all of these different markets. They are able to stay unmatched with comfortable, stylish fitness/gym wear. Hopefully that will stay true regardless of their attempts at reaching other markets that have already been captured by Nike and Adidas.

Spotify didn’t invent streaming, if anyone did, it would be Real Audio. Having invented nothing, is partly why they have no value. They are essentially a reseller marketplace with a terrible set of agreements with their suppliers, the labels. Spotify gets a nod for packaging it, and putting it on a phone app, which is arguably an un-protectable commodity now, and also owned by their competitors, but the simplicity of streaming was around and commercially viable since the late 1990’s. Good luck.

Did I miss it or did he not talk about the “controversy” of not allowing unfit people to represent them? Or the CEO stating that unfit people are not who they’re marketing towards? He should have, it’s one of their main reasons for success. Most people think it’s a goal and an accomplishment to look good in their clothes, and don’t want some obese and unhealthy “body imager” wearing the same things without earning them.

@@theartofbiz quite the opposite, actually. We’ve seen it countless times where companies fail when they change their image. Think Victoria’s Secret. My wife and I used to shop there a lot, and every time we went in it was men shopping, mostly with women. That doesn’t happen anymore. The last time we were in there, we were the only couple and I was the only man. It wasn’t hard to figure out why. Just looking at the wall displays showing unfit women wearing way too skimpy lingerie…that’s just not appealing to most men, or women. My wife literally said she didn’t want to look like that. Now, you can go nuts saying how that’s “rude” or “unkind” or whatever, I don’t care. It’s the truth, it’s my opinion, and I will NEVER relinquish my rights to them. We also saw a picture of a transvestite wearing women’s lingerie on the opposite wall. Nope. Not only is that taking advantage of mentally unstable people, which is unethical, it’s also very unappealing to the vast majority of people. We’ll never go back and they will die a slow death. And be ridiculed while they do. Lululemon had that figured out early. It’s not a very difficult thing to understand.

Luckin is pure cheap and that’s about it. 9元 vs 30元 for an americano. I call it the worker’s coffee cause that’s who’s buying it. I just drink coffee from our company’s delonghi machine. Tastes better than luckin. Starbucks is a status symbol and a place to relax and drink even though everyone argues there’s better coffee elsewhere. 9-5ers in China don’t drink starbucks.they drink luckin and that’s why I don’t drink it cause I don’t want to be associated with the rat race. Luckin should be careful, Chinese consumers are always out for the next shiny thing hence the opening and closures of dozens of 网红 milk tea shops. I would say they give McDonald’s,kfc, and convenience store coffee a run for their money. I do think Starbucks is more expensive than it should be, but because of Starbucks, independent coffee shops also use it to justify their high prices and that’s where people who have money or lots of time like to go.

that's quite a sad life you're living to be constantly look at the thing you buy to ensure your personal brand isn't effected lol. it's a coffee! it's cheap and it's good (I come from the most coffee snob city that is melbourne. and luckin's latte is pretty okay consider it's price and that's awesome enough for me) my attitude is that luckin coffee won't bring my personal brand down, in fact. when I drink luckin it's brand value rises

I think luckin could succeed outside of China. So long as they focus on opening stores inside already busy storr fronts such as airports, universities, malls, possibly popular supermarkets or grocery stores. I dont know how well they could do with independent stores To be honest. I would get coffee fron luckin. But thats partially due to my hate of the taste of coffee. Edit: after hearing luckin Franchise model. That should be the standard
