Practice a few t/o in fbw 320 in msfs with slew, then practice a few t/o with saved sit/flights in xp 12 and Toliss with ils to mins and rvr. You will then understand why rw pilots often prefer xp. When you restart a flight in msfs 320 series, literally everything has to be reinput in mcdu. Pita. Thanks for video.

That’s exactly why I prefer XP. Tbh I don’t use it all that often but if I come across something IRL that I want to explore more in the sim, I need to be able to quickly and accurately replicate the scenario. I don’t have time to slew aircraft etc etc.

For years ago I built an All-In-One/Hybrid sim rig, and lately I've been looking to upgrade it. I was already kinda' doing this with my flight/driving pedals. Except I have my pedals mounted inverted, and have a spacer to keep the rudder pedals far enough away from the car pedals so nothing contacts. I sit further back in my rig when flying. My wheel is mounted to a board, which is then mounted to a set of dresser drawer rails and two deadbolts on either side to hold the wheel in place. Sliding the wheel forward gives me enough space to have my keyboard in front of me for reguler computing, desktop gaming, or flying. When driving, the keyboard goes off to the side, I slide the wheel toward me, my seat forward, and tuck the rudder pedals under my seat. IDK how I didn't think to mount both pedals to one thing and just slide all of that. Notes have been taken, thank you for the idea!

Well done! I am semi-retired now and intend to have a hybrid set up as well. The one thing I was thinking was for the racing and flight pedals I have been thinking of a hinge based system lift one up to the right then lower the one on the left. But I really like what you have done and I may do that instead seems more solid and probably safer than mine. Thanks for posting.

Since the car pedals are closer together it might be a good idea to put them closer to the seat. The way you installed them you get the rudder pedals in the way. If the rudder pedals are behind the car pedals you can still access them easily.
@_MarkV_
11 күн бұрын
Not quite. The rudder pedals don’t touch my legs at all because I raised the car pedals and I’m about to raise them further for a more open wheeler feel. If the rudder pedals are behind the car pedals they would also have to be raised leading to a very unrealistic foot position for anything other than an F16. I spent a long time on this one and realise that most people have the pedals the other way but it simply wouldn’t work as intended on this setup.

This is a really ingenious solution. I'm currently building a TR160S for both flight and racing. Attempting to use the TR inverted pedal plate to have inverted racing pedals, with rudders on the heel plate or on top of the pedal plate...but may have to try a sliding solution like this. I also have the added challenge for swapping wheel for Winwing MFDs...QR4Rigs may be the route I got for that, HOSAS/HOTAS, and handbrake/shifter.

Thanks mate and sorry for the late reply. I am also conjuring up ideas to swap steering wheel for MIP panels etc. I’ll probably fabricate some stuff out of metal as soon as I’m setup in my new place. I’m also thinking that if I buy something like the simagic alpha base with an extension, I can mount it as far back as possible, which would then allow me to mount stuff in front when not racing. To do that though I have to find out if I can mount the quick release to the base side of the extension instead of the wheel side. Any ideas on that?

I'm glad I found your channel. By your comments, you have had a very similar experience as I have in trying to make the Pimax Crystal comfortable. I got an Apache Comfort Strap from Player 1 with the counterweight. Although the counterweight is a good addition, the comfort strap wouldn't let the rear headband sit as low as it should so it got the flick. I then bought a cheap 12mm PU leather face and neck pad from Aliexpress, and even though the FOV was better, I ended up going back to the original 15mm foam piece (I have prescription lenses fitted). Which like the G2 Reverb's foam pad, makes my forehead itch. I even bought a cloth skull cap, that cyclists wear under their helmet for comfort and that helped a lot. Now after finding your video, I've just ordered the fabric kit like yours from Studioform. So, here's hoping I can finally get comfortable. Having said that, I wouldn't give up my Pimax Crystal for anything.

I would love to but I’ve packed all my gear up as I’m moving house and the equipment is going into storage until October 😩 It’s really simple though. Install sim app and plug in the FCU. Will have to update both the app and the firmware but even a toddler could do it. When launching xplane it’s a good idea to have sim app running first but I don’t think it’s actually required. No buttons to bind as it just works in xplane. The only thing that you will have to do is adjust the lighting in the sim as it doesn’t always sync on launch. Hope this helps.

Great vid, thanks! Does the real FCU also have non-tactile push/pull on the knobs, or is that just a winwing cost-cutting measure? The only other thing I don't like about this unit is how bright the backlight is compared to the LCD. Even the lowest setting is almost too bright for a pitch dark room, and the LCD is almost too dim at max brightness in a well-lit room during the day.
@_MarkV_

The real FCU is a little more tactile with regards to push pull. Hard to describe but it's as though there is a tad more dampening. Very minor gripe. @@_MarkV_ I don't think its a bug or defect, I think it's just made that way. It's not a huge deal, just a little thing that bothers me. It just feels like the LCD has a brightness scale that goes from like 0-60%, whereas the backlight goes from like 20-100%. I can live with it for the cost!

Even with the 4090 though, I can’t run all high settings. I run the Pimax Crystal at native resolution, 90hz with no motion reprojection. I preference smooth, stutter free gameplay over eye candy. Do you like the Crystal? Just ordered a Crystal light coming from a reverb G2. In iracing you can set the max range of brake in the main setting menu. Set it to 75% for PCUP, lot easier to be precise on the brake (and you can full brake on flat straight with this setting). You can also try specific settings for other cars (1600 ....). Also you can set a deadzone on the brake so if your foot is just lying on it you dont brake, also a lot easier to find the sweetspot while trail-braking. + suelio's videos on trail braking, and coach dave for hotlaps = 2:07 next week ^^

I feel the need to crank it real tight to have it sit securely on my head and stop it from wobbling around, and that leads to very painful experience after a short while. Was looking at the official Pimax top strap first, but that seems to have been out of stock for a good while now, so I'll be getting the StudioForm top strap and pads instead. Doesn't look at nice, but hopefully it'll be just as functional and comfortable.
