At the Tail end here Bruce! Just caught your IBA 100-1500, well done and welcome to the club! Great job adding in the HB video at 10 mins, nice FF with the video editing and some encouraging music for all of us, i used a stainless water jug and hose from MotoJug for fluids, try it out, my last was an IBA 2000 in 44 hours- MC ride plans always get extended so don’t fret, just don’t run out of gas! See you out there some day! Jim, Long Island, New York

Plan the ride, then ride the plan. Truer words never spoken. My wife and I (two-up) rode our first SaddleSore 1000 and Bun Burner 1500 in mid-June this year, much the same way you did. We knocked out the SS1000 in 18½ hours, got a motel for 6 hours of sleep, then finished out the BB1500 in 35 hours, 18 minutes. Planning all stops along the way (addresses and gas station hours) helped a lot, and minimizing the amount of time at each stop helped more. We brought with us almost all of what we ate and drank, so that helped greatly, as well. It was an experience that we’ll remember for a long time. We received our certification package last week. 👍🏻 I knew about the Shark Nose 1000, but I didn’t apply for it (we rode a Road Glide Limited). Perhaps I’ll do that on the next one. Congrats on your ride accomplishment!

When I did mine I left at noon. That way I had a good nights sleep, time to get last minute bike walk around inspection done. 20 years ago signatures were important so I would arrive at the finish noonish so a signature could be had. 1100 miles 17 hours and 4 Jolt Colas!

Your SS nested in a Bun Burner mirrored my IBA ride in 2018 on my Sportster 1200. Like you, I'm my best company: no radio, no GPS, no comms, just me, the bike and the road. I completed 1600 mi 5 minutes under the 36hrs. Last 800 miles was in rain. Doing IBA rides provides lots of stories. In <48 hrs, I'm headed out to a family wedding 2,067 miles away. Perfect for a Saddle Sore Gold, 2,000/36. Straight shot on I-80. I'll do another on the way back for the Mile Eater Bronze level. This time, I got a new Sundowner seat. The Sporty's stock seat made me understand the "Bun Burner" meaning.

@livetourride

I’ve been struggling with that a little only because I am trying to find better points higher up at the rear to use for tie down that won’t create bad stress on the bike’s frame. The other thing I’d like to do is use the points on the winch assembly to hold it straighter. I just haven’t figured a good attachment point to the bike for them yet. I’ve taken the lift off for the winter, so will be working on that next spring.

@livetourride

1) No you don’t need to register. Do the ride and then send in the paperwork when you’re done. 2) No. The IBA highly discourages it and will not certify your ride if they are concerned you violated the law. For my ride, I made sure my average speed for a segment did not exceed the limits.

Bruce, well done. How did you activate your Gopros, whilst moving at hi speed? Did you stop to turn them off and on? I'm curious as I also am using two action cams . Do you do professional voice overs? If not, you should!

I can only talk to Hero 9’s and 10’s. They have a record button on top and my gloves have enough tactile feel that I can feel if they have been properly pressed. The two cameras that were mounted on the handlebars were also connected to a USB charger that plugged into the cigarette lighter plug in the fairing. They were continually on charge and as I before I pulled out of a stop, I would start them recording a Timelapse at 30x. The helmet camera did not have continual charge and I have gone through several different mounts on my helmet to get something that really works. What I do now is very different to what it was in June 2021 when I shot this video. My Sena headset provides the voiceover audio to either my GoPro Hero 10 or my DJI Action 2. I am on the fence about which of those two cameras I prefer. The DJI doesn’t crash on me like the H10 does, but it also doesn’t have good amplifier support for my Sena microphone. ChinMounts.com do the best job of producing mounts for modular/full face helmets and I have them installed on all 3 of my helmets, including my Schuberth C3 Pro. Hope that helps.

@@livetourride Bruce, one of the best answers I've seen. I have a Sena EVO and mic on the left side of my Shoei Neotec.
