The folie work's hilarious, I can imagine a balding middle-aged man in Eric Morecambe glasses with a microphone in a 70s shed scrunching newspapers and hitting daps together to create tackling sound effects lol love it

Good but dated documentary film that had a national release. They used the same makers of the 66 World Cup similar documentary film. You see lots of bits of players that MOTD Big Match didn't do. Interesting.

Leeds United in 1972 were the finest most enteraining side in the country but were still portrayed by a negative media as been a dirty and synical side - The Plastic Target Balls used by Leeds along with the Sock Tags they wore were a PR exercise to showcase and promote what was and had been the best and most most succesful side in the land for the past 6 years - The plastic Target Balls were signed by the players and kicked into the crowd as they came out - They were the first team in the country to have there names on the back of their traiining tops and do training drills during the warm up to enterain the crowd before matches - after the game the players threw their signed sock tags into the young kids in the crowd as they came off ..THIS was Don Revie's Super Leeds..miles in front of there time

I cannot believe I have just stumbled upon this! I have looked for this for years (the BFI and other film collections) and was told that much of the film was in such a poor state of decay it couldn't be saved. I am one of the kids playing on the bomb-site in Portsmouth, as was my older brother Kevin, my younger brother Michael (although he didn't make the final cut due to a minor injury and the cold, so sat in the directors car for most of the day!) and a good friend of mine Vince Gibbs, who I am still in touch with. Vince might have a better idea as to where the other kids are today as he knew them better than I did. I seem to recall being asked to join in by a man who worked on the film who lived at the top of my road in Leigh Park and knew my parents. His two kids were in the film too as well as other local boys from the estate. My day is officially 'made'!!

I pleased to see that they published "Cup Glory" eventually, like the undermentioned comments have indicated I have been looking for this movie also for some considerable time, I was extremely fortunate to have been asked by the Director Tony Maylem of "Cup Glory" to act as Director of Photography on the FA Centenary Year Film, I worked alongside other great sporting cameramen of the day, I had l worked for cinemas newsreel company British Movietonew in from 1960/ 1969, during my stay I specialised in football coverage mainly using specially adapted extreme telephoto lenses which enabled me to get intimate football sequences as can be seen on the FA Cup Final between Leeds and Arsenal in 1972 All in All- it was a privilege to have work on this movie that made Footballing History a 100 years on

Brilliant. Folk say the cup has lost its glister. I disagree. It's still great to get to the cup final even if there are other bigger prizes to be had.

Oh it has. When Premier teams wether fighting for Euro qualification or relegation put out weak teams as the FA Cup is not a consideration so only the mid table teams only take it seriously & that's why you get all-sorts in the quarters & semis. If the top & bottom teams get to a quarter or semi they then reluctantly take it seriously. Appalling really but in the Premier it's only about money & I no longer watch it.

Thank you so much for uploading this. I've been searching for this movie for ages and thought that it had been lost forever. I remember going to the cinema to see it in 1972 and that was the last time I saw it. My personal interest was because as an 11 year old I was at both the Hereford V Newcastle game and the West Ham v Hereford game. For many years I had the souvenir booklet that came with the movie but it seems to have been lost. Thanks again.
