I had done botafogos before. I guess it is all right on each third step in the botafogos to progress slightly forward if you want to take up more space. So if you still want to keep every 3rd step in place, it is all right also. And for the lady, the free arm will be up on every "a" of the Criss Cross, generally.

I second Brett Long from below. This is an excellent video. Precise about the movement, no wasted time, summed all closes in a row at the end, etc. Great job!

Very well done, quality dancing and quality teaching. Easy to follow conversational style. Good color offset in the clothing and nice video / audio. Good ideas on the open then closed position demos. Nice structure and topic flow of material.. good teamwork. Positive, pleasant energy and vocal tone. y'all nailed it.

Hello, i just wanna say that this beautifull presentation is what they call "International Ballroom Samba", a type of european dance that was developed from Maxixe - a extinct type of african-brazilian culture - not from samba. All the things that happen in samba culture for the last 70 years are still a unexplored field for europeans. Its time to explore it! Look for samba de gafieira (Jimmy de oliveira) in internet. It would be great to have a real samba version of samba in europe!

Excellent video for beginners! I wish you would have counted off in the demo for them to understand you're usage of phrasing. Also, you could describe the use of a slight rise (not using ankles, strictly through knees) in collection vs. drag being lead via maintaining a lowered knee action. This concept allows the dancer to a drag but end in a collection without trapping the knees. Start in a corte' i.e. lunge/drag but slightly straighten legs to allow for a comfortable collection.
