I have the opposite opinion to most, im a massive Ireland fan, was in the stadium on the day and i found this very very sad, yes the support is amazing but we are singing for mediocrity here, accepting being an easily beaten minnow and in the years since we have gone further backwards...the Association running Irish football has an awful lot to answer for, and i hope that one day in my lifetime we might actually have the team, league and association we deserve so that we can compete against big teams instead of singing at being cannon fodder

Wow...seeing this video after 12 years. Pure nostalgia and goosebumps. One of the best moments in the history of sports. These Irish people they are the best fans out there. They are singing in pride and here I couldn't hold my tears back.

Most epic moment in European Championship history! Still remember the German reporter saying "I'll be quiet for the next minutes" and the goosebumps I got. You'll never beat the Irish! 🇮🇪🥰

Daarvoor dienen we de geschiedenis van de evangelisatie van Europa nog eens te bestuderen vanuit Athene en Rome. De verhalen van de apostel Paulus geven daartoe al enig houvast.🌈

This is the only thing I remember from that tournament. Watching this on the tv and hearing this was amazing.. Down with 0-4 and elimination is coming - perfect time for this fantastic song. Greetings from Sweden.

This song was first sang as an anthem by the Glasgow Celtic fans around 1990 ..Pete St John who wrote this song acknowledged the Celtic fans by presenting Celtic Football Club with the original words and actually performed it at Celtic Park to thank the Glasgow Irish. RIP Pete St John.

I am a Scot and perhaps from a different "persuasion" to most southern Irishman, but this is a beautiful song and sung so proudly, you would have to be heartless to not note this, especially given its words. Tremendous.

11 years later this moment of grace and love expressed by the Irish fans is still on my mind - and on occasion when I need an emotional lift I try to find a video of it. This has a bit hectic video work, but still takes me back to that most beautiful moment.
