Hi! How do you secure the QC to the tray to prevent it from moving or coming off when you move the entire rack for your shows?
@ChrisDavisTGI
3 күн бұрын
I’m not 100% certain on this, I’d have to ask BTPA since they built the racks for us, but I’m pretty certain they removed the screws that hold on the bottom plate of the QC, then screws them back in through the shelf so that they’re locked in place!

Hey Chris! Love the Quad Cortex content even though I'm still stuck with my Axe Fx :D Did you export the "Take it to the grave" Ir with or without the master eq on? Or have you got any post processing going in your DAW? I can't get it to sit as nicely in the mix to be honest. Best regards!
@ChrisDavisTGI

Hey! I exported it without the master eq on! I wanted a more neutral pallet to sculpt from for our FOH engineer! I dont use this preset for tracking, this is my live preset! Our engineer is certainly doing some EQ'ing and Compression on his end out front to make everything sit together nicely!

Thanks Chris, loved this. Even as a hardcore Fractal AXE3 user this is super interesting and sounds sick. I definitely use the same principles you apply here. Not sure if this is possible in the QC but Fractal makes a few things a bit easier with their Channels regarding block management Blocks (like delay and pitch) can have different "channels" in them. So Channel A: Digital delay /w settings X. Channel B: Analog delay /w settings Y I use Channel A in scene 1 and Channel B in scene 2. It stays the same block. You can switch delays within the same block within the same preset using scenes or midi. But everything in the QC sounds great as it is, just a different workflow I guess! :) thx again! keep this coming please

Amazing content! So on the ambient clean V2 sound, the delay and the comp are "in front of the amp" and not "in he fx loop" or in parallel? i am a kemper guy but love any kind of new routing, signal chain ideas. Keep them coming.
@ChrisDavisTGI
5 күн бұрын
Yeah in this set up those are before the amp! Delay before amp has a very specific characteristic because the delays are getting the same distortion characteristics from the amp that the direct guitar signal is! The compressor follows the delay then to make repeats equal volume with the direct signal to give it that endless repetition feel!

With the tripp lite ups, are you still plugging into the venue's power sorce or just running off of the battery. If it's just the battery, how long does it last before needing to be recharged?
@ChrisDavisTGI
17 күн бұрын
It’s plugged into house power so it’s always keeping the battery charged, but the power hitting the gear is being drawn from the battery. It’s not meant to last a long time if the power drops out, just meant to last long enough to either quickly remedy the issue or safely power everything down!

I’ve seen an older version of your rig which was using HX Stomps for Pitch Shifting. Are you now doing that in the QC?
@ChrisDavisTGI
19 күн бұрын
Yup! I think in a scenario where you’re soloing the pitch shifted guitars and REALLY analyzing, I mean REALLY REALLY over analyzing, the HX Stomp’s pitch shift may be a fraction of a percentage better. However, in a live scenario you NEVER hear an instrument that way, even when someone is playing by themselves. Because of that, it didn’t make sense to complicate our rig anymore than necessary when we could almost the exact same results using the pitch block in the quads and it’s been great!
@itsanthonybest
19 күн бұрын
@@ChrisDavisTGI For me for clean parts the 1 or 2 steps down just has not seemed to work well. I am using your Preset from Cortex Cloud and for higher gain riffs everything is totally passable. But for anything clean, the pitch-down just seems completely unusable.
@ChrisDavisTGI
19 күн бұрын
Interesting, I use the clean scenes pitched down in our set all the time with plenty of success. Maybe if I really analyze it in solo like I was saying, but with the delay and reverb rolling and in a full mix I have no issues with it!
@itsanthonybest
18 күн бұрын
@@ChrisDavisTGI I have to now admit something ... somewhat embarrassing. I recorded the clips and listened back to them and they sounded NOTHING like what I was hearing while playing. I realized on cleaner sounds I was actually hearing the acoustics of the instrument along with the detuned pitch and therefore sounded awful because I was hearing the notes in unison but 1 or 2 semitones apart. I put on a pair of over-ear headphones and suddenly things were clear as day! So... I was dead wrong the pitch shifting works great for 1 or 2 semitones.

@ChrisDavisTGI
28 күн бұрын
Hey! Fair question! The physical volume knob out the outside of the unit is more of an attenuation knob rather than volume. I find its best practice to set it to full volume and then set your final intended volume digitally inside the unit. This also makes repeating the exact volume and gain staging must easier, just set the knob to 100% and you should be set!
