I remember as a youngster watching reruns of this in the 80s and always being VERY attracted to Kitty Carlisle . I still am for whatever reason. Just a beauty, elegance, and grace that's hard to describe.

She'd come at them like a machine gun with her questions. If you weren't on your toes she'd have you dead to rites!!

Sorry, but she was too often a total ditz. Perfect foil for Orson Bean's razor-sharp wit, however. 😂🤣😂

Viewing Kitty Carlisle doing the 1934 film, Murder at the Vanities, as young, beautiful actress who wore a see-through stage outfit in a musical number led me to this forum. For the most part (aside from her pre-production code movies and pin-up photos in 30's Hollywood), she loved life and the arts. On To Tell the Truth, she radiated a glow that was a sight to behold. No matter what dress she wore, or jewelry, makeup, etc., she had a beautiful smile, the class of sophistication. Looking back, I thought she and What's My Line's Arlene Francis were glamour queens with class and became my favorites. May both ladies rest in peace, beauty, glamour, and class. I'll always love them.

A wonderful collection of short takes on her always tasteful and elegant appearance. Sadly, classic style, good manners and a sense of humor have become ancient history. Thanks to you tube and those people who put the clips on the channel, we have an opportunity to enjoy classic television and watch past entertainers in their prime. A great relief from the reality shows dominating on the broadcast networks. Watching the classic shows like , " To tell the truth," and "Whats my line,"

Don't know if this is real or not but I found this on a celeb site: Mr. Cullen said, in an interview in the magazine PLAYBOY in the mid 80s said "She (Cass) was to play the part of the 'intellectual', because she traveled a bit, and the producers gave her a heads up on what guests were coming up when. Like we're going to have a sky diver, for instance. This was so she could looks up things in an encyclopedia to ask on the show, like she was knowledgeable. Still, she missed guessing the right person six times out of ten."

She always played second fiddle to Kitty, and was totally comfortable and confident in that position.

Her outfits were better in black and white! I watched the old episodes her gowns and dresses and jewelry were very elaborate which counter balanced how devilishly smart she was.

@@greenbrown7776 You're so right! She had a regalness about her that some folks probably mistook for "snooty" or "snobbish" but I never thought of her that way!

Kitty Carlisle sure did know how to make a grand entrance to that theme with her nice legs and notable fashion. To tell you the truth, she was the one who likely brought in the rating numbers. In one of her entrances there were kids out there sitting and standing. It looked like she wanted to say to them,'You messed up my entrance', or,'You messed up my walk'.

I especially loved the 1990-91 edition of Truth. Kitty would be introduced as “To Tell the Truth’s very own Kitty Carlisle.” When her name was announced, the audience would erupt in applause as she descended the staircase.

Not sure if they had a live audience, but how about the one episode she did during the O'Hurley run, using her married name of Kitty Carlisle-Hart? Sadly she has since passed on, otherwise it would have been a joy to have her on the current version.

Whenever I play along at home, I find Peggy’s questions the most helpful. She is like an audio encyclopedia.
