Chet recorded this in 1954 when he was about 29. He must have started BEFORE he was born....hahahaha. First time I've seen this clip. Fantastic.

I'm a guitar player. But early in my younger years, I played clarinet. I remember playing this song at a solo and ensemble competition. Sounds soooo good on guitar, Chet plays it well!

I wonder if this music style might influenced the bolero on Mexico. It is common to going to a Restaurant in Port Veracruz, and musicians with Harps and guitars begin to play music on Bolero Style, having these kind of arpeggios on their playing.

Note how at 1:02 Chet puts thumb and first finger together and switches to what was essentially using his thumb pick to do a little flat-pickin'. Then back to his usual finger-style, so smoothly you hardly notice the transitions. That's the mark of an old pro!
