I attended Alexander School between 1982-1986 and was gutted to learn that it's all been torn down. Have some great memories of living here!

Remember on a big exercise parking our tank transporters up on that camp and getting a cabbie on a self propelled gun and the gunners had a cabbie on our trucks. Think they were M110 with 32 or 39 hvy regt

That was my home for a few years. 26 field regiment, 16 bty, RA. around 1981. Great memories. 16 bty used to drink in a bar called the 'power pub', I think it was only a few miles down the road. Happy times.

I'm German and I live near the old Napier Barracks in Dortmund Brackel. It was a very cool time as the English Troops was stationed there. In the early 80's I was 10 -12 years old, we went to the Royal Saint Barbara's Golf Club and we were looking for Golf balls around the Golf course . I have still the typical Sound of the Land Rover's in the ear's , as they drove the Road down. Good old days, I miss them very.

I think I remember being there when the gates were bombed in the early 70s. I have also crossed that road and field loads of times. And remember those huge chinook helicopters landing on the field.

I stayed there when i was 11 years old. I lived in the Observation Tower House(close to the left of the entrance after the main building). It was used by the Germans in the War. The year then that I was there was 1981. I remember the Cinema and Stables for horse riding. And Winston the horse, he was on the airstrip, a brown stallion with other horses. The Brigadeers house was cool too. Brigadeer McCormick I remember and the new Brigadeer Jones. My Uncle drove their cars, the one with the flags the black long Cortina Estate. He was in the Welsh Guards. Was a cool time, my Uncle built me a blue bike with a dynamo(hand painted). When Indiana Jones the first movie was released, it was on at the Cinema there, for the first time. Was a cool movie to watch, I loved every second. I remember the soldiers going into small gas rooms, frightening for training. The Naafi for shopping was cool, I used to buy Roy of the Rovers. I used to also skii there in the main field, it was an awesome camp. Loved it, my most favourite time ever growing up. Nina was in the charts in Germany, with 99 Red Balloons. After I got home 12 months after, it was a number 1 hit in the UK charts. I will never forget that wonderful place and time of the amazing British soldiers stationed there. You can't buy memories as I recall, mine were priceless.
