It would be easier to program if the radio figured out the transmit frequency after entering the receive frequency, the + of - differential, and the offset amount. To have to then input the transmit frequency should be unnecessary.

I like it, very ingenious solution. Now if you can figure out how build in an arc to the rails that the wheels ride on to simulate the ski slope. The skiers edge has ramp angles depending on model from 13 to 19 degrees. Just throwing this out, how about a 2x8 or similar laying on edge, cut to the desired arc. Now that you installed the restraining guide wheels you may not need the angle to contain the rollers. Anyway, great job.
@plopfz
7 жыл бұрын
It is true that the wheels never touch the aluminum at all anymore, and I probably could put in an arc. The foot pieces already pivot, so that would not have to be altered. Maybe I'll do that this summer. Thanks for the input.

Hi, we're wanting to set these radios up to use on drives with a group of cars throughout Europe, so just use them over short range to communicate between the cars, no more than a mile or so between us. Do we need to get into repeater frequencies? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@hp9715
8 жыл бұрын
+Carina Baylis Line of sight is about 5 miles in open terrain. Repeaters would probably change as you drove, but if you are going to be in one spot, during overnight stays, then repeaters would allow you talk across a town. They should work well by themselves for your intended use.

I tried programming as you said to step by step in your video. I am still having issues with it. This is my first time ever ordering a scanner. I want to use it as a scanner for my local fire departments and police departments as I am a volunteer firefighter. I brought it up to my fire house and no one can really seem to figure it out from the instruction booklet. That's why I took it home and tried to use youtube but I still am confused on it. Do you offer a programming service? I will pay to have it programmed.
@plopfz
8 жыл бұрын
+Bill D without any programming, in frequency mode, you should at least receive a signal. Many fire departments and police departments use narrow band transmitters to prevent people with these inexpensive radios from getting their signals and crowding their channels. This is not a scanner. Do you have a frequency list or website I can look at to confirm that?

@hp9715
9 жыл бұрын
That frequency is too low for this radio which listens to FM (about 60-100 mhz) VHF (about 150 mhz) and UHF ( about 440 mhz). You would need an different radio and antenna for that low a frequency. There's no shortage of them, just go on the internet and go for it. The 5,085 khz, or 5 mhz, and is the 60 meter band. This radio is 2 meter and 0.7 meter. The 60m will pick up from all around the world. This little radio is line of sight.

Couple of small details that NONE of the tutorials on KZitem are telling you. 1. This radio has 2 frequencies displayed. Upper and Lower. When trying to save a frequency to a memory location, you MUST be using the UPPER frequency display in order for the memories to save. If not, it will just beep at you and say nothing. 2. When in CHANNEL mode, it does NOT care what offsets you have turned on, ctcss codes or anything else. When in channel mode it goes PURELY by what is in the memory location. 3. The order you put the frequencies into the memory locations is the order they will operate when in CHANNEL mode. Remember, your offset Ctcss codes etc are set when you save the frequencies to memory. I thought mine was working backward until I realized that the frequencies in channel mode are EXACTLY how you set up the frequencies when saving them to memory. Lastly (for now), when changing between channel and frequency mode, by holding down the "menu" key and turning the radio on, hold down the "menu" key until it actually says in voice, "frequency mode", or "channel mode". I hope this helps.

Excellent video You can switch between TX and RX by pressing the * button ( Star/Scan) It might be a good idea to disable the PTT-ID on Menu #19 and DTMFST on Menu #16 so you don't transmit the ANI-ID which is that set of tones at the beginning of your transmission.
