This door swings both ways. Women who have their heart bleeded dry by a guy who could be a angel if he would just put his wings back on. But somewhere he fell the hard kind of fall. Now he is just a mess. Holding on to you for that reason to make it to tomorrow.

Weathervanes: A collection of songs about life and death for grown-ass people. Truer words could not be spoken about this album. The music is very simple and accessible. The lyrics are powerful and carry so many messages from multiple perspectives. That ain't easy to do in a 4-minute-long song. Get it people!

This is without a doubt one of my favorite songs and favorite rendition by Isbell. Every note he plays and lyric he sings feels authentic. Finding his music is like an act of falling in love.

Judging from the time it came out, to me this song seems like an outright repudiation of reactionary Trumpism and it's claim to represent the experience of dissilusioned white America in the South . It is a rejection of crude identity politics and a brave declaration of principles. I am full of respect for this guy, because in a way he's not afraid to go against the tide and take a stance when it matters the most.

I'm so grateful to have lucked out to have my daddy by my side... He always had my back & we didn't pull punches....i hear this song & I know the thought of my not having the man who was my first love... And although he's been on his side of the 🌈 mom joined him to dance on clouds. When she passed at a young 94yrs 11mo & 1.3 weeks shy of her 95th birthday.🎉. Felt tired caregiver had her shower & I called twice & she was showering or napping...my bro was there that week but she never did call. Bro went for bike ride & said she'd call me back after he got done. 2 min later it's my brother a Miami resident &b youngish retiree went from bike to get break to screaming she's gone!!!!! That was unreal as I was there. 18 19 days & left to go home for hubby's birthday 🎂 8/9 /22. Was coming back the following week but she passed before I came back. I miss them both... Mom 8/15/22 before her was my sideman who never stopped being my sweet funny considerate husband, son, brother uncle but the daddy by my side is still right there inside my heart. JI is a heavenly writer player & all the things that make lb him the one act we'd go anywhere to see... And we try.... rest peaceful daddy & mom... Dance on the clouds will see you again been almost 17yrs 12/29/07. Hope I'm right & we'll feel each other one day again. ❤

I first heard this song after I found out my dad’s uncle was in a fight with a card shark and lost his left testicle in a game of gin rummy. He’ll never be the same . He still walks tall and we still call him the king of Oklahoma even though he was from the southern tip of Arkansas. Man those balls used to be the talk of the town. Smooth and hairless like an Egyptian cat. He still walks with a slight limp because his leg is looser than it used to be without that one giant teste keeping his leg in order.

Fell off a platform after 37 years of accident free time and OT. Made me take a piss test, never did anything my whole life. Tore my Achilles tendon into and broke my arm in three places , went back to work in three weeks , mouths to feed. Such a good song.
