Sad thing is nothing will happen to these innocent children that age out of foster care. My children were illegally kidnapped due to no electricity and protesting . . My 17 year old son was brutally cut and threatened by 3 grown ass Tampa police officers who laughed at him . . My husband almost died and spent 3 weeks in a shit covered holding cell . I was dragged like a dead animal for protesting . Our 6 year old daughter was told that her mommy and daddy are dead . And that no one love's our 13 year old son . . Now my Alexander will be turning 18 in October 18 of this year . . Sad thing is no one gives a fuck.. Rot bake KZitem channels

Unfortunately, America does not believe many of OUR children (and aren't they all ours?) are worth a significant investment. One relatively obvious policy change that would have a significant impact on this issue would be to extend the age of FC to 25.

It makes me so mad that kids are taken out of abusive situations only to turn 18 and be told, “Okay, bye!” Who’s going to help them? Who’s going to teach them? Who’s going to support them? To me, it seems like the answer is “nobody.” As a former foster kid, I empathize with kids who age out.

My x wife and her husband are good people and live in bowling green Kentucky. Both can’t have children and both are wanting to adopt. With the system in place Kentucky wants them to foster care and not adopt. Kentucky gets more money from kids that remain in the system! They are now going out of the country to adopt since Kentucky will not release there grasp on these kids! Kentucky needs to change there system if they want to fix the aging out issues they have!!!

A young person can't live on their own at 18, get an apartment any apartment which is expensive, then get a job that pays a living wage. No one prepares them for that. There needs to be programs to teach these kids living on their own.

Valerei Renfro At 16 i left an abusive home. I was given a very old truck by an uncle. I sold scrap metal from an old Crain left on the family farm and saved up 2500 from it. I bought a mobile home with that and had another uncle move it with his tractor. I spent 3 years in that trailer without water or electric. I found work here and there. So yes it can be done but it’s not fun. Luckily I had a lil help from my uncles.

The thing is, some of these kids don’t even have their own documents which yes makes it a lot harder. Like they don’t have their own birth certificate, or Soc card, which makes it hard to even get lower paying jobs. Even then, if they don’t make enough for a landlord they won’t get a place rented to them.

I aged out over a year ago and was dropped off at a gas station in a bad part of the city I was in. No social security card, no birth certificate, and no ID. In turn I was homeless for 8 months, I finally have an apartment now. But it's like the same cycle, I have a worker who checks on me once a month and tries to force me to take medication and/or therapy. I tried medicine once again after being drugged up my 5 years in care and I had seizures as a result of serotonin overdose. To say the least, I've kind of lost hope.

This is a great video. I aged out in 1998 and its been a battle, I'm still fighting. I suffer from PTSD and depression/anxiety. I have managed to build a life for myself and have a mostly normal life. It concerns me how many people on this thread are offering to "adopt" aged out teens. To the teens on this thread, please be careful and if you plan on meeting any of these "adopters" have an adult or social worker at least meet them if not try to screen them in some way. I know first hand how desperation can inhibit good judgement. It is a hard road to travel when your alone, but you CAN do it. Don't let anyone promise you the world, you will be disappointed and will possibly end up in a much, much worse situation. Rely on yourselves as much as possibly! Things do get better.

I aged out at 17 years and 5 months (in the UK) because they needed the space in my children's home (so I couldn't stay until I reached 18). They sent me to a hostel for the homeless. I have not known a happy family life, but I have, at times, been happy.

My husband and I are in the process of becoming foster/adopt parents. We feel one of the biggest needs is for teens getting ready to age out. God has blessed us with a large home and we feel that offering a stable home to these kids is super important. We have teens of our own. I am praying more people come to realize the need for mentors in these young adults lives.

If anyone has information regarding Adopting or Process used for adopting Children aging out of Foster Care I sure would like to hear about it....... contact me at .... [email protected] and place ADOPTION in the Subject line. My decision to adopt was based on my son passing away at the age of 25.

Hey Versus, I think pretty much everyone who is aware of the problem cares and thinks the situation stinks. A lot of people have never been made aware of the problem and then there's the question of what to do about it. It's impossible to give someone a good childhood once they've been through a bad one, but we should try harder than we do.
