Did you need spacers for bottom bracket? What size chain ring did you install? And what alterations to chain guard bracket did you have to make? I have two of these bikes and want to go electric on one. Thanks for info.
@peterschmitt6088
2 жыл бұрын
No spacers were required. No modifications to the chain guard but I had to change the way it was attached to the brackets by mounting it on the other side of them to push it further out from the frame. I had to add a few links to the chain to accommodate the 48t chainring.

@@peterschmitt6088 no, I was being hard on you only because I’m jealous. I bought a pre-made ebike last year and am very disappointed, I’m going to try the shunt mod but the controller has been dipped in some gray colored wax substance and I can’t get to the part of the ESC that needs soldering. @peterschmitt6088

Climbs hilly roads well. I live in a very hilly area with many road grades that are 10-15%. The three-speed hub definitely helps when hill climbing. The motor is 1000 watts so it has tremendous torque.

I wish mine was a factory 3-speed... fortunately I know where to get a conversion kit for a 3-speed or 5-speed hub. Does it make much of a difference changing gears? I'm actually looking toward getting this mid-motor instead of a hub motor

It's a great ride. A quality system that would be a good conversion for any bike. It allowed me to keep the stock setup and 3-speed Sturmey Archer hub. I'll have to get someone to record me riding it but it is definitely powerful and fast. The 3-speed hub and the power settings on the controller allow you to fine-tune the speed, acceleration and hill-climbing capability of the bike.
