Guys, I'm going to be 47 next month and believe I am in tune with the 90s dance and rave more than ever. Never lost in touch. There is of course other stuff, but I really don't have anything current in my music library. Either something is wrong or I clearly am getting old!

Many young muscians who went on to success and fame had the full support of open minded Parents, who could either buy them equipment and or let them use a spare room for a studio, or if say the Parents were not well off and middle class, would do what ever they could to support the dreams of the child. The problem for many creative young people comes if they have unsupportive or a narcissistic parent(s), who are jealous of their Children and will do little to nothing to support them or in many cases, sabotage them with negative comments etc.

Other scary and "peek through fingers" moments in Crimewatch reconstructions (in my opinion) - Joan Macan arriving home just as the burglar (her killer) is leaving - Slow fade and creepy background music videofit of the blonde man in the pub (Paul Stevens) - Camera zooming through the woods (Shelley Morgan) - Two men exposing themselves to a woman in a leisure centre at night (January 1997 episode) - A young girl goes out to the garden because her dog is barking, and she sees a man in a balaclava staring at her in the darkness (late 90s armed robbery in Liverpool) - A woman looks in the mirror in a swimming baths changing room and a strange man appears behind her (rapist who left a distinctive orange shirt at the scene of a rape, can't remember the name or episode) - Baby-faced Manchester rapist (late 90s)

Agree with all of these, but some you may have missed: Train Murder Screams (April 1988) This one really gave me nightmares when I watched it as a 10 year old. Canal towpath man (May 1993) - Seriously, this is up there with Lamp Post guy...seriously disturbing I'm really surprised this isn't mentioned more often!! The dodgy moustache guy warning the girl about leaving her window open (October 87) just weird. And the weirdo peeping tom in the gym changing rooms (September 1993) made me jump as I wasn't expecting it

Why was everything so much scarier in the 80’s and 90’s. I feel like we’re more streetwise nowadays
@zeddeka

There was a kind of grey grimness to a lot of the 80s right up until the late 90s that added to the creepy feeling. Lots of derelict and run down areas and a lot of violent crime. Technology also nowhere near what it is now , so it was much easier to feel isolated.

One of the reconstructions that stuck in my mind since childhood all those years ago was the kidnapping in Deptford/Millwall where the assailants, who were wearing scary old man’s masks, forced the victim down the stairwell. I saw it again when I was rewatching all the episodes during lockdown. I forget the month and year but it was late 80s. Obviously, there are so many others. I could write an essay. I think Crimewatch would be my specialist subject on Mastermind. Gosh, how sad is that…

Liam is sitting in his bedroom studio at the end of the clip, and the record on his lap is Critical Beatdown by The Ultramagnetic MC's. Liam sampled two lots of vocals by MC Kool Keith from that album. The first was "Change my pitch up, Smack my bitch up" from the track "Critical Beatdown" which he time stretched, and the second was "Pay close attention, I take your brain to another dimension" from the track "Give the drummer some". A legendary hip hop album which I have in my vinyl collection.
