Thank you so much for commenting! 😊 You're right, an overall statement isn't necessary if you're aiming for up to a band 6.5 or maybe even 7. I've noticed many students struggle with the overall statement, often spending too much time on it or writing it incorrectly. So, focusing on clarity and accuracy is more important at that level.

Give some ideas what you are going to write, like curiosity to know about past residents and added historical value are the main reasons for this, and the best method of research is to take help from professionals. Add this right after paraphrasing. So the reader can get ideas. The way you wrote looks like a memorised answer, and it will definitely decrease the score.

Thank you for your detailed feedback! The ideas you've mentioned are very specific. IELTS Writing does not demand that certain points or ideas must be included in an essay for it to be correct. When I discuss planning essays in my videos, I assume that a person sees the essay question in the exam and has to brainstorm ideas on the spot. From timestamp 2:29 onwards, I discuss how I came up with my ideas. The ideas you mentioned are certainly valid, but it doesn't mean the writing is inadequate without them. Since making this video, I've gathered various ideas, some from my students. For example, one reason people might be interested in the history of their house could be superstition. They may want to know what was at that spot before the house was built. Essentially, the ideas in an essay need to be relevant. A candidate won't lose marks for not mentioning specific ideas. Regarding the thesis statement - 'I believe that the reasons for this depend from one individual to another which I will explore in this essay along with how the past of a place can be researched' - there are many ways to write a thesis statement. You can mention the points you'll make in the body paragraphs in your thesis statement, which is one approach, but not the only one. I don't think it would seem memorized to the examiner if supported by good content in the rest of the essay. I hope I have answered your doubts. Thanks again for your feedback and for engaging with my content.

Hi. Writing Task 2 (Essay writing) is the same for IELTS Academic & General Training. These videos can help you get started on it: a) kzitem.info/news/bejne/p2uXsWV3enuFkoo b) kzitem.info/news/bejne/moav1IeXe3yWn5g There are links to more such videos in the description of these videos. For Writing Task 1 of IELTS General Training, you need to write a letter. It could be a formal, semi-formal, or informal letter. These videos can help you with letter writing: a) Formal: kzitem.info/news/bejne/2aiGm5eYnKmepKg b) Semi-formal: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1oWHt4NsnmarfZw c) Informal: kzitem.info/news/bejne/tWqY1JhqkHukgaw Hope these help you. If there is any question you are struggling with or any specific query you have, leave a comment, and I will try to address it soon. All the very best!

Hi. Thanks a lot for pointing this out. I rewatched the video and realised the same. I have mentioned this in the description of the video (I have mentioned you there as well. If you want me to remove your mention, please tell me, and I will do so). I have corrected the writings on the website. You can find the revised writings here: www.guide2ielts.com/2019/09/ielts-writing-task-academic-report-1.html Having said that, as I have mentioned in the description, the writings in the present tense could also work for two reasons. 1) They can be read as 'In the graph, the lowest figure is at...' (2) The writings are consistently in the present tense. A big issue is if you mix tenses in your writing. Thanks again!

Hi. I am glad you liked the video. I personally know someone who appeared for IELTS Academic at the end of April 2024 and got a map question-it was the layout of a town with details such as the town center, railway track, and gas station. Although map and process questions are not as frequently asked as graph questions, they are certainly not uncommon. Cambridge IELTS books 17 and 18 each have one map question. For Writing Task 1 Academic, it helps to divide the questions into three categories: a) Graphs (Bar Graph, Line Graph, Pie Chart, Table) b) Maps c) Processes Hope this helps. If you need any more clarification, please leave a comment.

@Guide2IELTS
Жыл бұрын
Hi Vishakha. Between 2 and 4 pm, the lowest percentage of people are listening to the radio. That is what is mentioned by me. There can be many different correct ways of tackling a writing task 1 question. In this case, I compared when the percentages were the highest and lowest over the 24-hour period (I usually take this approach). You could also compare what the percentages were at what time. Do keep in mind that the writing task 1 instructions ask you to focus on the main features. So, it requires that you don't just say that 'the percentage was this at this time' and 'that at that time'. Instead, compare and contrast the data. That is what I have tried to explain in this video. I hope I have managed to clear the confusion. Do write if you need any more clarification.

Thanks for your comment. I do agree that 'stage' is a better word to describe life cycle of an organism. However, to the best of my knowledge, 'step' and 'phase' are words which can be used to replace them. Do correct me if I am wrong.

Once again, yes, 'stage' is a better and more natural word to describe the life cycle of an organism. 'Step' is more suitable for other natural processes such as the water cycle and also processes which involve human intervention. Having said that, as far as I know, it is not incorrect to use 'step' or 'phase' when writing about a life cycle. If there is a reason that you believe these to be incorrect, please recommend where I can read about it. Thanks.
