Hi mate. I have a 5bg Diesel like yours with the later style chain tensioner. Some people have told me that this style is not sutable for the Diesel. After completing this job have you had any issues? Many thanks, Ed.

Hello Ed.... my engine has covered about 1,000 miles since rebuilding it without any problems. But since then I have rebuilt a second 5 bearing diesel and I opted for the stronger looking earlier chain tensioner that has a sprocket instead of the rubbing pad on the later one George

Just checked mine now, SO mine is the exact same as yours, teeth look ok on the gears but I bet thats why I am smoking and pump timing is off all from chain slack

i'm so sorry for your loss. she reminds me of my black staffy bull who just died last night from a massive heart attack. she was super sweet & almost 12 years old. after using the doggy door to go outside after Midnight, she climbed 3 flights of steps & at the top of the steps starting coughing/huffing/puffying for about a minute & her eyes looked "dead" during that time. i put her on the bed & she lied still for ten minutes & i thought she was recovering but then she looked listless so i figured it was a heart attack & searched on the internet for sympmtoms. i was upset **with myself** that i didn't recognize the signs of a heart attack asap & instead of rushing her to the ER i wasted 35 minutes of googling about it online to attempt to figure out what was going on before driving her to the ER (she had always been healthy, so i didn't know what was happening, it was her very 1st sign of heart trouble other than her slowing down in her older age). she died within 15 minutes of arriving at the ER (she was intubated & given CPR but she had gone "limp" with shallow fast breathing right when i handed her over to the ER vet so i think nothing could've saved her at that point :( i think if i had acted 35 minutes more quickly, the ER docs may have been able to save her, but she probably had heart failure & would've lasted only a few more weeks (because her initial heart attack had extreme symptoms like huffing/puffing/coughing for about a minute)

hi did you change the things or not yet? i also have an annoying sound that appears when engine is at running temperature and left at idle . i had such a timing chain set-up and it disintegrated as it skipped a tooth and many mechanics said it was ok. after some months the timing chain fell apart and i decided to go for the traditional type tensioner cos that has a ratchet that helps the chain remain taut even without oil pressure from engine.

Hi I also have a stuffy, he is Comming 4 and is my first own dog. He was a present from a friend. I often say to my wife that I wish I never got him, only because when it's his time to go it would brake my heart . I am happy I have him and love him so much, we do everything and go everywhere together. It's hard to explain to people who don't have a dog, but for people who don't it's like having a child to us, part of the family. Love u Scruff , K.C - little midnight warrior.
