Cool edutainment video. I now know if I decide to install a lock on my black file cabinet, I would also need to use a stepper bit if the hole needs to be bigger to install that drawer lock.

Good advice. Remember, if you are using a larger bit, the drill speed at the edge is much faster than a small bit’s speed. Also, consider that if you’ve been doing it wrong, you may have work-hardened your workpiece, which can make it doubly hard to drill into. Don’t ask me how I know!

Say I have a screw and it's a 3/4 hex or Phillips does that matter for what size drill bit I'm going to need to use to pre drill a hole?

Tried your method of slow and hard......... No oil and the bit never even got hot. We made our metal curly-cues and before too long had all 4 holes drilled. Thank you 🤘✨

very good sir!! i told my friend not to drill fast and destroy the bits and he told me "that's an HSS drill bit no problem" after 2-3 holes the drill bit was burned.. it is so interesting to try do the same thing different way if you feel you do something wrong than keep doing the wrong all the time that cost more.. those drill bits are not free...

Great video. Was drilling into a steel lintel and wore out a cobalt hss drill bit in two holes. Going too fast. It's a shame manufacturers don't list drill speed on the packaging.
