Style of cheerleading is fine, but the challenge of the style is identical execution among all members. I coached a squad who wanted to move like this and finally convinced them with video that it is often too messy. Stunts are middle school level and need work. YEAR long tumbling instruction needed.

Yes ut its not nationals so they can dance really how they want.....but yea I have to agree nationals is about presentation and conservatism and alot of these moves wouldn't fly. Need more gymnastic incorporation too. But I still liked it.

I like that routine. Every one had some nice rhythm and still stayed tight but not stiff. And thank god for diversity. When I was on the squad in middle and high school for a bit it was always two or three black girls or any other minority was discouraging sometimes. But its nice to know we are taking g more interest in it. Im from garner nc. Love it thanx for loading

I find you all to be funny when saying this is not cheering. GRANTED this kinda of cheer wont place high in a UCA , NCA competition this is cheerleading like it or not. Cheerleaders help bring crowd to their feet to cheer on their team. So if you must stomp and shake then do what you do. I would love to coach these kids. I would have these kids putting a lot of those college kids in the area to shame.

Oh yeah and West Charlotte has some amazing stunts and their motions were pretty straight, and if you really were a true cheerleader or cheerleader fan, you would know that TRADITIONAL CHEERLEADERS are trying to ADD STOMP AND SHAKE into their routines and cheers because its entertaining and exciting and more fun to watch then just a few motions and a jump, and you can incorporate BOTH STYLES TOGETHER, my team does it alllllll the time and we're THE BEST, SEVENTY-FIRST HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY!! :))

I like how everybody is hating on the Stomp and Shake style of cheer. My team was at this competition and we won 1st place in our divisions and grand champions here, then we recently went to NC State's camp and won 1st place in our division and had the highest overall score out of the entire camp. THAT SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. Just because we like to stomp and shake doesn't mean we can't do what you consider "cheerleading." THERE IS MORE THAN ONE STYLE OF CHEERLEADING AND WE KNOW HOW TO DO THEM ALL!!!

Apparently most y'all have no idea that cheerleading is a multi-tasking sport! I cheer on a VARSITY squad who does cheers just like this and we went to a UCA cheer camp ( traditional cheerleading ) doing stomping and shaking in our routine when we competed and WON 6TROPHIES ALL IN 1ST PLACE PLUS A LEADERSHIP AWARD! so I would appreciate if you all would stop saying this isn't cheerleading because it is! by the way good job ladies

Believe me as a competitive cheerleader for over 13 years, I have nothing but respect for sharp movements and the enthusiasm this team puts out. That's great. The only thing that is being said right now is this team seems to have more potential than just shaking ass and stomping the yard. This isn't cheering. It's glorified stomping and that's the bottom line.

look at MEAC competition over the years and look at those HBCU's before you comment on cheerleaders like this . i am a former PHS cheerleader who does stomp and shake cheers and attending Howard university in the fall. so just because they stomp and shake does not mean they aren't the best. so when you have cheered like like that don't speak because it is a lot of hard work by doing that and being sharp and tumbling

wow this is exactly what gives black cheerleaders a bad name...There is no skill in shaking your ass for 3min. and to those who wonder why most "black" cheer teams don't get recognized/ win at competitions its because judges take off points for vulgarity. This isn't cheer its a twerk/dance team. Calling it cheer is a waste and is why the sport isn't taken to seriously. look at teams like TGLC of Maryland twisters those are teams that came a long way...I can tell you that actual cheer isn't this.

Thanks for posting this video. And congratulations on there being a first annual stomp & shake cheerleading competition. I'd love to see more videos of that. I added this video to a post on my cultural blog along with one of a Zulu dance troup. Although I don't know what they said, the confrontational style of those young women's words & their hip shaking, reminds me of stomp & shake cheerleading routines. Google Zumalala Similarities Between A Zulu Dance & American Stomp & Shake Routines.
