What are the connecters, Or the claps that make the bracelet snap together called?
@dungeondesigns104
Жыл бұрын
I think they are Line 20 snaps. You can get a bag of them fairly cheap from Tandy, but make sure you buy the accompanying snap setter. It is usually a little more expensive - around $10, but you only need to buy it once.

What kind of glue are you using?
@dungeondesigns104

Regular old barge cement I buy at Walmart. It works much better than the regular leather glue you can buy through Tandy or Weaver. It's probably a bit of overkill for something I was only going to wear once for Halloween, but it works great for all projects and it's super cheap.

What size patch did you use for the phoenix? It offers two different sizes, and I am just curious.

I don't remember there being a choice when I purchased it. The patch is around 7"x7"

I'm glad you like it! You should try it out with different materials and different sizes. I used the same overall design to make a large sling bag. I just connected the ends of the drawstrings to the bottom corners of the bag. That video will be coming soon.

I bought this leather at Tandy. If I remember correctly, it is their finished pigskin. The string came from a big strip of Latigo I had laying around.

Only concern is if you had sewn the patches on to secure after you had ironed
@dungeondesigns104

I didn't sew them, but I did put 4 layers of heat n bond on each patch so it would stick. I couldn't get the first or even second later of heat n bond to hold, but 4 did the trick. So far everything has held well. I was concerned I was going to have to sew the phoenix on the back, but the double sided patch I applied worked very well.

Thanks! I am working on a longer, true DIY version for anyone that is interested. I hope to have that posted later this week. I made quite a few mistakes and learned some valuable lessons. Hopefully the longer DIY will help people to avoid some of the issues I ran into.
