The problem with Revature, it has a Indian culture problem in it like Google/Microsoft does when I was working there. Most Americans needs to understand their culture when comes to tech. Most of the times, they're known to scam people... Indian people are worst people in tech right now specially that A.I pen today that got bombed reviews. You got to learn about people culture my brother when comes to tech. For instance, Japanese people are known to make video games when comes to tech. Americans got into that industry and we were successful in it bc of steam. Game development is challenging hard but video games are part of people culture. You can learn cyber security specially the certifications out there to get. People get jobs with the comptia certifications. I don't recommended to get a CS degree bc it is slow and they're can teach you old theories stuff and old tech. It's can be very outdated information. It's easy to fool people when comes to tech today. My advice if you wanna get into tech. Found something you love something about tech. Why that specific tech you loved and try to make projects arond that tech. Web development isn't the only software engineer job you can do

Here is my story: I joined Revature in 2022 and got laid off in 2023 . Here is my suggestion who should join Revature: 1. Ppl don't care the salaray but only care the experience. 2. Ppl don't care the salaray just want to get pay asap 3. Ppl with 0 experience ,just can't find a job but don't mind of low salary. I have to say the salary point three times because it is way too low. Plus the training is no joke. I had to put 18 hours per day just want to finish my second project. For ppl already in the training . Here are two things I want to share : 1.The tranning and project are hard, so hard. Just try to do best you can. I felt like even thought you can't complete 100% , they will not let you go. 2. Statging and at client managent are super poor. FYI : The end of October Revautre HR call me back saying they have client opportunity and I delay it. So I guess the market situation is better.

I don't know much about the "pre training program". I heard that was introduced earlier this year as a better way to weed out candidates before paid training started. But as for the actual training itself, no. lol. There is no 100% guarantee you will be picked up in staging. Out of the 7 who actually cleared the 12 week training, last I heard only 3 got picked up. 2 at EY and 1 for a smaller company out in Virginia, the other 4 were furloughed(me included)

Around 25-30. I would sit in the lectures during the day, and rewatch the recordings after class. Before I had a quality evaulation on a given monday, I would watch around 20 hours every weekend.

@@monkeyboy5835 I'm going to start the paid training myself. One more question , you would study about 5 hours each day OUT of "class"? So this is on top of the videos expected to be watched.

@@monkeyboy5835 lmao I just got dropped today from Revature. It was good up until the QC and the project during the same week, they did it very suddenly, told me I was doing good but that the client needed less people and I was the one of the many to go. Unfortunate but it is what it is.

Thank you for this. I have been thinking about one of these companies. I actually have my 4 year BS in Computer Science. Haven't had any interviews or leads in 3.5 months, however probably have less that 100 applications out there. One obstacle has been that my degree isn't specialized. Computer science is a broad term and I have been focusing a lot on software developer job titles many requiring years of experience. Meanwhile I play around with programs and practice building small things to keep my skills somewhat sharp. Anyway, Thank you for this video.

@@monkeyboy5835 Here's my tip if you are set on the uni route. Use your connections either through your professors or the career center to get an internship with a good local company. This is the main advantage that cs majors have over the rest of us in getting the first two years of experience. Pay will be no good but you will have a route to a legit dev position and will potentially be able to skip the first job or two in your arc, which are typically very demoralizing.

Thanks for the info! I'm about to do the tech assessment for revature and it seemed like my only choice to get any entry level job. I minored in CS and have a Math degree so I thought that'd be enough but I'll reconsider turning that minor into a second degree.

Hey, MonkeyBoy here. That's what im doing too, second degree in CS. All of the recruiters I talked to post completion really stressed the importance of having a CS degree, and they're the key to landing a solid position. As soon as they find out you don't have it they usually lose all interest. A degree in STEM is priceless, you can make it without of course, just a lot more work to get your hands on that first solid block of experience. Hope it works out for you!

Try to contact recruiters, they're the key in the tech industry. Don't sell yourself short. A Bachelor's in CS is a very valuable thing.
