She hasn't stopped lying since she got exposed for this fake story. She lied about most of her life story in the "Roxanne Roxanne" movie. Even MC Shan exposed her in an interview. It was supposed to be a "Juice Crew" movie but she sold them all out and made it into a feminist movie at the expense of everyone else who was in the juice crew who had a much larger world impact with their music and life than she ever did. Her career ended when KRS dissed her on "The Bridge is Over" and as soon as she ran to Big Daddy Kane to *ghostwrite* a response ("Have a nice day" written by A. Hardy aka Big Daddy Kane) her career was over. She couldn't even write her own response because she was a phony.

Both of your comments are wrong. DejaView launched in 2001, and the channel currently airs 70s, 80s, and 90s shows, hence the 70s-style ident.

to all y'all who got so much ignorant hatred in yourselves: she was very young, a teen mother, and trying to see past the popularity game to something more substantial and went to Marymount when she could've kept doing the lazy thing which is to rap, so kudos to her for that. she probably even felt the pressure of people looking up to her. it was probably that that made her lie. regardless, she inspired people, she contributed greatly to my childhood memories, and she probably felt trapped and didn't want to be seen as a failure. so many of y'all are so hardcore judgmental for something that really doesn't negatively affect anybody else but her but i bet if we looked in all y'all's closets we'd see skeletons and far less achievement, especially when you were her age. so cool out.

In case people missed it at 0:10, a very important comment from a seasoned musician was made. Whether you're using a 'drum 'machine' or and an actual 'instrument'. (A drum a machine is a 'tool' as well) "Music" is the point .

What a fucking liar. You can even tell, how she looks down real quick and her voice trails away when she says "Cornell Medical". What's so funny about all of this is that what she claimed the nay-sayers said ("She's only gonna go for one semester and then drop out") is EXACTLY what happened. But let's be clear; someone OTHER than Warner Bros (or any other record label) paid for her 3 semesters at Marymount College (and ZERO semesters at Cornell). The worst part about the whole deal is how in interviews/statements after she was exposed, she continued being shady and misleading, which is just pitiful.

I am disappointed at the fact that this is a lie. I felt that this was the most inspiring story in Hip Hop, even more inspiring than Jay-Z's success. But I hope it doesn't discourage people from pursuing a higher education and really making something of themselves.

That is true. It has been reported that much of the story about her receiving her PH.D is fiction. I still love and respect her and her contributions to hip hop, but she shouldn't be lying about this.

This is a bizarre story. Why would she have lied for? It has to be about a deep regret to not have studied (when she clearly has the brain for it, just by making this story up). But I think that having the talent that she had, nobody will ever take that away from her. She should be in a Hall Of Fame. If she lied I forgive her because it's not the end of the world. Maybe an University should give her an Honoris Causa for wanting a diploma so much. She'd totally deserve one in the music field.
