Robert Earle always did this show masterfully, despite saying "take pencer and papal" just after the 9 minute mark. Every week, he had to read questions quickly but clearly, keep up with floor directions, and do so live before the nation. His voice and cadence are indelible in my memory.

The answer to the first question is "Nothing happened." Like something on a Seinfeld episode.

This was a great quiz show. I clearly remember watching this program every Saturday evening on WFLA-TV Channel 8 on NBC-TV, in color, at 6 pm. This was, of course, before the days of weekend evening newscasts. Such easier, more loving times. Robert Earle was the perfect moderator for this storied series.

No doubt Prof. Mel Brandt happens to precede each NBC show and program by way of its iconic in living color spiel, although it’s in monochrome/kinescope.

Thanks for posting this. The current incarnation of 'College Bowl' with Payton Manning has really dumbed down the questions. I doubt there would be very many college students today who would be able to answer any of the questions from back in the 60s.

He also was announcer on THE DOCTORS - the opening ended with him saying "dedicated to the brotherhood of healing."
Many thanks for uploading these Saturday afternoon treasures!
