I had actually tried that size on mine after I purchased the 18" wheels (20" stock on the 1794), terrible rubbing while turning. I had to downsize to the 33" to get away from that. Even the 33" rubbed until I removed the flaps in front of the front wheels!

Ahh, yes it's very possible the offset comes into play there. The methods with that offset are the only wheels I tried in 18" also.

It sounds like road noise from the tires, especially if you have large tread patterns on the tires. I noticed some noise at lower speeds, but not much after that. All depends on the tire design

Unfortunately I do not, but I appreciate the interest! I ended up selling this truck last year, as I needed a bit longer bed for what I do. I owned it for 8 years though, and it was great.

You can fit larger 295/70/18 tires (Grabber X3), which is 34.3" x 11.6", on a stock 2nd gen Tundra with zero modifications/lifts and no rubbing on OEM +60mm offset wheels. Likely works with +40mm as well

They are. I'm very disappointed in Toyota for this. The tiny front windshield obscures vision, and the interior is riddled with thin plastic surfaces, too.

The piece of plastic that is held on by two clips at the front of the vehicle is a Front Mud Flap, not an air dam or spoiler.

Well if you kept the stock wheels you could run a 295/70 18. Those aftermarket wheel offsets suck.

That may have been possible on a different trim that had factory 18" wheels. This truck was a 2016 1794 edition, however. It came with 20" wheels from the factory; so no way would 295/70/18R tires fit on the stock wheels.

Looks good, but I doubt it would also clear tire chains. So that would be a deal killer for me. I'll probably be forced to do a small suspension lift.

I never had chains on it, but you're probably right. Get yourself a 2-4" suspension lift, throw some 35's on there, and be done with it 👍

There's a point getting up to 30 mph that I noticed some tire noise. Before and after that, I noticed nothing. Very quiet tires for an all terrain. Love those things.

No re-gearing. It was definitely quicker from a stop with the original tires; way less mass / weight. I felt it the first drive immediately, then I couldn't tell after that. Looked so much better I didn't care.

My truck came stock with 275/55R20. That's a 31.9" tire. There were 2 other factory options for non 1794 editions (275/65/R18 and 255/70/R18) both are 32".

Nice truck cat! Thanks for showing me the wheel poke with the +25 offset rims on a 275/70r18 tire. Im on the fence between 275/70r18 and 285/70r18’s. You think i could fit the 285’s with a 2” lift with those method +25’s? I got a 2008 Tundra.

Absolutely, that's a 34.1“ diameter tire. No idea how you have no issues but that's great man. What tire are you running on there? Mine was rubbing loudly on that little front air deflector in forward/reverse during full lock turns.

I live in the North East. Flares are the worst thing you could put on a truck. You wouldn't believe the rust that goes on under there. I've had them and clean my trucks like a maniac. But if you don't care or not keeping it long term. Not yourself out.

Looks great, I ran a similar size before moving up to 35s and 17s. I still get 15 ish highway with a 2 inch lift but I aint worried as stock wasnt much better.

Did you run into clearance issues with wheel weights on 17s? I've heard of folks who can't put stick on weights inside the wheel because the caliper knocks them off on 17s. Any truth to that?

@@morgangriffith6226 nope never had any issues. Clearances are tight so you have to have a shop that's careful with weight placement. Every time I get my tires rotated through discount tire I will have them check the weights and if any corrections are needed. Been running my setup now for 43k miles and no issues and ive ran a few different 17 inch wheels.

@rjnoj-xb5kq I think he has general grabbers in the same size as stock tires, so definitely no rubbing for him. If you go with 275/70/R18 you'll be fine as well though. You might have to remove the front air spoilers like I showed in the video though.

I was going to change the title, but the first comment on this video called me out on "stock" as well. I'm leaving it now because he didn't follow it with a compliment 😝. I Wish the original wheels were 18's. Not a fan of how Toyota put 20" wheels on these things. I think you're gonna have to use the old heat gun on your fender liners for those 295's. That'll look beefy as hell 👍

The leveling kit is only in the front, yes. With the weight I have constantly in the bed it actually makes the truck higher in the front though.... So knowing me I'd have to even it out with leaf blocks. If I was going to lift at all; I'd just go with a 3.5" full suspension lift and some 35's. Doesn't serve the purpose of what I do, however. Yes, a lot of us have these "pavement princesses" haha. As for towing I have towed smaller trailers (5k-7k lbs) with no issues. The "Tow/Haul" button on our trucks is magical. Use it when you're not towing and you'll win some races 🤣.
