I’ll get paid if you click the link and sign up! I’m gonna get a framer affiliate link too to balance it out. I’m glazing webflow like a Krispy Kreme because it’s sick. It’s the best. Second to none. Also, framer is great too as stated in the video. 🫠

Im not paid, and ive been a framer fanboy since coffee script on framer classic. I preached the framer gospel at every org since then, but not this year. I have realized that it cant compete with webflow yet. Its nice since im a designer its easy to build and move fast in framer, but id argue its just as easy in webflow if not easier because of thins like relume. Also the webflow performance is far greater than framer. Dont get me wrong i still use framer but Ive been pushing my company to move to webflow instead of move to framer for MANY reasons at scale as well. Framer is great for a solo designer or small team banging out websites and dont wanna pay devs etc, to keep a lean team and have a designer workflow from beginning to end, thats the best utility from framer. and its only most appealing to designers. go figure its 90% of designers and design twitter still over hyping framer.

Webflow is hiring cheap youtubers to make ads that try to look like honest comparisons to slander Framer because they are scared of it. This is the third video i have seen by a channel that is sponsored by Webflow (its in the description) but pretends to compare it to competitors fairly. Shameful. If you’re a real one don’t delete this comment.

Interesting take, you must know something I don’t. Yea I have a link, and I’ll get a commission if people sign up via my link. They’ve had no influence in what my video says, and I am genuinely very impressed with framer. I don’t believe I slander framer at all. I’ve used webflow for a long time now and long story short it’s far more capable and advanced for the type of projects I get involved in. My video aimed to simply show that. And as I said, i do recommend framer in certain situations for some people. I won’t be using it for My personal websites or projects that require more sophisticated functionality, but I am already recommending people to use framer for other projects, especially if they have no webflow experience.

@sketchymedia

Thanks Rachael. Appriciate the comment. My go to is a 12 col grid, set to stretch usually with a margin of 56 and gutter of 20 on a 1440px wide frame which is usually the width of the container if I’m building the site

I have minimal experience with bubble to be honest so im not sure. gut tells me no, as relume is a Figma library and the plugins ive been exposed to are specific Figma plugins to the destination web builders. so I'd recommend looking for a "Figma to bubble" type plugin

I remember when many publicly funded broadcasting companies started doing the same thing in the 2010s and renewed their brand and image once a year. In the end, the countries were forced to intervene in the operations of their own broadcasting companies because large amounts of public money were spent on these brand and image reforms. So I could believe that at some point the shareholders will start interfering with the brand and image reforms of private companies in the same way so that these reforms don't burn companies' money too much.
@sketchymedia
11 күн бұрын
Can’t disagree with that. BBC have done a lot of expensive rebranding, most companies should only do it in certain circumstances, and shareholder approval will only follow when that makes sense

I enjoyed this video but I wouldn't say these are all trends. I would say these are design staples that are still performing well, and the trend is the nuance or development of that. In that I would like to see more of a break down of what is trending this year, as this could also be taken as a summary+ of the last 20 years of design. Of course good design will always be good design, I'd like to see more of a narrow focus on particular design objects, even 5 or 6 per vid. I would also like to see something about design trends in portfolios and CVs and for different contexts. In design it's important to present your work well, however in the corporate sector can you find good design trends around branding yourself for various industries? Nope.

The JCPenney department store's rebrand to "jcp" in a stylized square logo made to look like the American flag proved to be unpopular, so they undid that logo and in a matter of months, reverted back to their iconic 1971 "JCPenney" wordmark, typeset in the Helvetica font. JCPenney -> [jcp]enney -> jcp (American flag logo) -> jcpenney -> JCPenney

What springs to my mind above all are my past experiences working in design, where it was somehow so soul-crushing that I left to pursue another field (where I am now very happy, though I've always been artistic and still have strong interests in design). I just want to say that if you're a recent grad like I was, YOU are the future and don't let your boss, if he or she lacks vision, beat you down or berate you or tell you that you don't know what you're doing. Have the confidence and knowledge to defend your aesthetic, because seriously--that's your job, that's why you were hired--not to do the same old shite, but to inject new life into that company. I wish I had known that at the time, but I didn't. I see so many examples here that I would've proposed at that time, so much to love in this video, these look like what I was doodling on paper back then, but I knew my bosses would just laugh at me and I didn't have the guts to take a stand. There are definitely different kinds of companies too--I wasn't at the right one for me.
